Tom.

Thanks for explaining that, I was genuinely at a loss for what C25K meant.

Hey, if running works for you, you can do my share too.
😀

ADH.

I'd be interested in what iDave says about the mega hungry iDieter.
Cos it sounds like you are / was putting a fair bit away.

The stuff I miss

Just trying to help here.

But one of my favs was cheese.
I love/d small cheese cubes with a glass or two of red.
But I could do 50g of cheese in a sitting.
😯

I really, liked cheese.
Same with Chocolate, again, I could demolish a fair bit of the worlds supply.

Now, having served a longer tour of iduty than you, so far.
I can honestly say I've kicked cheese into the long grass.
I really do not miss it.

What I'm suggesting is that.
Given time, more than your 6 weeks so far.
You may not miss the things you currently have only on the off day, as much.

Thats my experience.
So, keep on, it may get easier for you, it did for me.

Well, I hope so, always been a carb fiend so any increase in self control in that regard is going to help!

For me its more like an absence of any desire for those things, now.
very little, if any discipline needs to be exercised as its all become habit.

I genuinely do not miss cheese, bread, pasta or rice.
I am quite lactose intolerant, so had cut out milk anyway.
I still do chocolate, Green and Blacks 85 percent dark.
Occassionally.

In the ole days, I hated dark chocolate.
But after reducing the sugar intake, my sensitiviety to sweet things, highetned, so now I can taste the sweetness in dark chocolate.

Win ! 😀

Keep at it, you'll get there, just like the rest of us.
😉

Not sure if I'll stick with the running yet as i didn't really enjoy it much and i struggle to stick to exercise I'm not having fun doing! That being said i felt shattered at first so at the minute it seems like a challenge i want to conquer!

Day 1 of iDiet in the miketually household: I had bacon and fried eggs for breakfast and the Mrs had the same but with added mushrooms and tomatoes (and less bacon).

Dinner: I had a bag of preprepared carrot, cauliflower and broccoli which was steamed in the microwave, with sliced pepperoni and piri piri houmous(scavenging what was available in the nearby Sainsburys Local). The Mrs had a Subway salad box.

Tea: sausage, bacon, chorizo and three-bean casserole, topped with carrot, swede, parsnip and leek mash and then baked in the oven.

Though we now think the sausage might have been naughty. Maybe?

I definitely still miss the sweet stuff but not sos bad as I thought I would.

Still miss crisps to. I had a packet of cheese an onion the other week and it was soooo fine... 😳

Only had cheese & tattles once in a month, that's a big step as I used to have baked tatties with cheese an beans oh twice a week sat least. No rice and no pasta.

Skipped breakfast today as I wasn't hungry (well not until ~11.30) had tuna/butter bean salad for lunch, a handful of nuts before a 2.5 hour climbing wall session. Just had a couple of chick pea burger things (not a great success, won't bother trying them again) and a pretty small portion of ratatouille bean stew that I've brewed up for tomorrows lunch (mmmm, tasting good!).

Had 4 mugs black coffee/americano and a black tea. Probably not enough water as I should have though.

Only about 4 mile walk today I'm afraid.

Only ~1 kg drop last week but I did kind go for it on my cheat day. I'm gonna exercise a bit more self control this weekend...

I'm actually gaining weight.

Does anyone else see their weight go up and down on a weekly cycle? I do a big ride usually on a Sunday, Monday morning my weight spikes up by 1.5-2kg and then drops through the week until Saturday before leaping up again after exercise. The trend is downwards so I dont worry about it but does anyone know why that would be?

I'm 191cm, (6'3) have got down to about 85kg but year after year I never seem to be able to get lower than that. About 15% fat.

Nope, its just been going one way, UP !.

Was 78Kg about 6 weeks ago, now up to 82Kg.

Properly confused, I am.

Not sure if it may be linked to my recent house move, when my entire life routine was disrupted.

Still, things are settling now, but still not sure how I've reached 82Kg.

heavy carb

What are they, like Chunky kit kat ?, or something.
😆

Actually, I see your association with weight gain and carbs, there.
But isn't it more like the types of carbohydrate, you know, the Glycemic load, etc, which will dictate the effectiveness they have on increasing your body weight ?.

Coffee Time !.

weight gain pre-event is water, 4g stored with each g of glycogen loaded

So I'd loaded in an additional 400g of glycogen approx.

Oh and Solo I mean heavy as in I was eating a lot of it, not the type of carbs itself.

iDiet meals followed by porridge and chocolate. Then some more chocolate. Then some bread, how could I forget the bread.

I've been on holiday for 10 days and have 18 pages to catch up on!

I have come back from Majorca with a 4 a day espresso and cake addiction, along with queen of the mountains for every ride, including a 12km climb! Are you worried Mol? 😛

Worried? Yes. I am on a business trip in Madrid, I'm knackered and there is no iDiet food available. Playing football tonight though, I might have to show an inappropriate level of commitment to get a decent workout.

I'll fluctuate during the week but generally I'll have lost weight by the end of the week. I've seen me put on 10lbs after a cheat day then lose it within a day or two. Similarly I can be 5lbs heavier in the evening vs my weight that morning though it's gone again by the next morning after I've "evacuated"

Rubbish!
Fabada.
Cocido Madrileño
I think chorizo is Spanish.
Supermarkets have aisles devoted to lentils (lentejas), chickpeas (garbanzos) and beans (alubias).
No iDiet food?

It is difficult to find though, I believe they have different words for practically everything.

Surely, if one speaks slowly and points they will understand? Just rudeness if you ask me.

Its probably a business trip, and so unlikely that MolGrips has cooking facilities.

Don't forget to add an 'O' at the end of any English word you speak to the locals.
That'll sort it.

Yes, I am queen now 😆

Weather wasn't the best but got out 8 of the 10 days we were away for. After complaining to Mustard before we went that i'd lost my climbing ability, it returned out of the blue which was good as on a few days we did 2,400m of ascent! Was loving climbing well again, was second or third up to the top with the fast blokes every ride which was ace. Highlight was climbing to Lluc, descending 12km to Sa Calobra at sea level and turning round and coming straight back up again!

Lovely riding out there, and ace espresso and cakes. Think i'd better weigh myself tomorrow morning though...

good work DGOAB. I remember climbing Lluc. Don't suppose you managed to get out on any spanish club runs?

taljking of training.. I had a character building ride last night. Went out on the weekly chain gang ride in brizzle. Rode like a maniac to get tot he start as i was late. Heavens opened about 20 miles into the ride. Rode back with 5 others and blew on a climb. Spent the next 5 miles trying to get back on. Couldn't feel my feet or hands all the way home!

I was going to ask about the descents.
How satisfied are you with your high speed road.

I loved the Lluc climb Tricky, it was the perfect gradient for me to attack on. If i could find a race here with a climb like that in it, then i'd be laughing! After the Lluc climb, me and another girl were sitting on the front doing 40kph on the flat chasing down a girl in front of us. No spanish clubs runs sadly, didn't see many from where we were staying, just tourists. Not enough speed work though so will be ditching the miles and back to intervals and speedwork. Think we might try to go out next year with the guy you were with.

What doesn't kill you will make you stronger Tricky! Looks like our summer was that week in March as i'm back to commuting in winter gear!

Solo, I was descending well, i have got over previous fears and was hanging onto the back of mustard/the blokes on descents. Have now got a good sprint when on the drops too so can still kick if i need extra speed. Generally very happy with how i was descending, seems racing crits with sprints of up to 50kph have really helped my confidence descending. 😀 Why?

Why?

Well, its just part of the deal, innit.

Climbing is hard work and can be challenging.

But, making it pay, means being good at speed on the descent.
Just another string to your bow, if you can get good at it.
Handling skills and all that.
😀
