Thanks ElShalimo

All go here today with some big kit. Taking the top out of an old oak directly above my workshop. The Merlo is at full stretch of 26 metres (85 feet!)

@welshfarmer that must be OTM's if it's local.
Anything millable in the base? Or is it hollowed out from the old limb tear?

Yep. OTMs. We have left the stem at about 35 feet to pollard out ( hopefully). There are a few decent lumps of limb timber i may mill into someting. Rest is only firewood really

@elshalimo

Nice!

Loving those German pictures on the last page.

Must sort my pix out from the last couple months...maybe longer.

@redthunder -  I always thought Leyland were blue. Maybe it's an old electric board machine?

If anyone has done the Stwlan dam road climb, it's right at the bottom of the hill.

@Elshalimo, Leyland Industrial, they made a few of their models in yellow over the silver wheels. Not sure if there is any mechanical difference though.

I thought it was rescued from one of the local slate mines or power stations

I know it's not a proper tractor but it's impressive

I once wrote to Jim'll Fix It to see if I could get a go in a Pistenbully. He never replied. Think I may have dodged a bullet there!

The only time I saw Zetor tractors was when I holidayed in Devon as a child. Where I grew up, it was all large Fords and Massey Fergusons.

my uncle told me they were much cheaper than UK or German brands, hence popular on small hill farms in Wicklow, Carlow, Wexford area

Used to see Deutz too but not as common

All that money on a pimped out Unimog and it's not got self-levelling suspension?

I expect more from the stout burgers of Schaffhausen

It had some pimped red shocks - clearly ready for the potholes out to the beaches on Uist this week... Absolutely crazy sized beast to be driving around island roads. It was parked next to a Volvo HGV yesterday - and looked the same size!
