I wondered that too - good on the media for not telling us I say - otherwise the protesters would have what they wanted.

I think they were protesting about the strength of the  Anthrax being used to calm them all down.

Subsidies and EU policies no doubt... or some form of protectionism, becuse the French have this thing about home grown produce and it’s classification and protection.

And to be honest, I think they’ve got a point.

It happened in the first 20km before any real racing and has been all over the news....

Apparently the racing had been frantic up until that point

I think they were tired of poor Romain getting bullied by the big brutes from over the Channel.  They would have thrown wee but it’s so hot none of them could produce any, especially after their morning Pastis.

their love of a strike came good for us a couple of years ago on the way back to the Tunnel where they'd persuaded the peage booth staff to join them and we were simply waved through for free; sticking to Le Homme one car at a time.......

I was glancing at the updates, looked like the usual try and get in the break stuff but that was only LeTour text stuff

Something to do with how agricultural land is classified, and the subsidies that come from being classified as "poor". I guess they don't like how their land has been assessed, and that they are losing the subsidy.

The new le piat d'or tax. The French adore le piat d'or.

Somewhat amusingly it might even be brexit related. There are a lot of cutbacks in the next budget round partly because the British contribution to the coffers is no longer there so there are reductions in agricultural subsidies. Not completely sure that was what the protest was about but it is very likely given the sorts of farms and land you have around there
