Why...no, I know why, but how frustrating is the constant variation in volume through programmes - 3 minutes of talking/one volume, then BAM music at full tilt. So you turn the TV down a bit and the voices come back quietly and you spend the whole sodding night turning the volume up and down.

Really 'kin annoying!

I'm sure channel 4 got told off for doing that, then blatantly carried on doing it. Channel 5 was particularly bad tonight during NCIS

Was thinking the same thing yesterday, I know adverts are louder so you can't ignore them but seeing as I always turn them down surely it's an own goal.

I've a solution for this.

Get the director of programming from Channel Five and gaffer tape him to a chair. Gaffer tape a sturdy bullhorn to the side of his head and intermittently scream "Arsehole!" into it every few minutes.

Sky+ solves the adverts louder than programme problem.

even easier, don't watch TV, it has the added benefit that you can avoid watching the news too!

Woooo I'm not alone! My TV has auto-volume-normalisation and even that can't stop it. What a royal PITA!

Ofcom have a rule against adverts being louder, but they use some pretty weak language about 'subjective loudness' being in line with the program.

I hope for your sake that Mrsgrips isn't anything else like the character; a vicious, moody highly trained Mossad killer....

I hate the ADVERTS being really loud too.

Why do they do that?

The volume does not change its just the intensity that alters, they cannot raise the volume on your TV you need your remote for that!

I always think thats why the program 'card' that is at the start and end of the ad break is much louder than the rest of the program, as they can then put out the ads at the higher volume - while saying it is the same as the program.

thought when brookside was on, it was the worst for it.
channel 4 claimed the loudness was just because there was always a dramtic moment of silence before they cut to adverts.

I repeat its not the volume that goes up just the intensity, there is a difference, look up the definitions and you will get my meaning, it just sounds louder because they want you to focus on the message hence the intensity, they are not allowed to raise the volume.
