Zapp and Roger used a talkbox I think? To good effect imo.

Christ, saw the title "Tolerance, getting old, losing touch with society" - didn't clock that it was about someone getting upset about a piece of rap music 😆
Not heard that before, must admit that lyrics don't register with me, but the bass and the voice and the overall mood sounds great. Not the best I've heard lately though tbh.
Youtube took me straight to .

which is also massive.
Dunno what it is, mid-50s, white bloke, brought up on punk, goth and indie and I love hip-hop - stuff I recommend to my 17 year old and he plays to his mates in his car! Weird, can't explain it.
Prefer clipping. though and Milo (RAP Ferriera) as their lyrics are much better, so I do notice the lyrics usually.
I actually have no tolerance for the bland and boring. For rock music that sounds the same as old rock music, for "sing-songwriters" churning out the same boring acoustic guitar and Bob Dylan melodies.. takes all sorts eh. But it ain't an AGE thing.
Here's a couple more. These give me goosebumps. Enjoy, old ****ers

I guess you haven't come across WAP-CardiB... the song you posted is just another carefully crafted "make it rain" song. I do think the lyrics have become more blunt and direct, less metaphors and less play on words.

I quite like that Cardi B song 🤭

Maybe just because it wound up lots of republicans and she's a Bernie Sanders supporter.

But... but... how can you generalise? ALL song lyrics? ALL rap lyrics? Or just the tip of the commercial iceberg?

I think part of the issue is that 'hip hop' never used to be pop music. Now the two are utterly intertwined. I know I sound old but when I was a teenager you'd only hear the odd breakthrough tune on the radio or whatever and it was still a relatively underground movement.

Now 'hip hop'/rnb is the main style of pop music so inevitably it's more of a product these days.

I'll stick with techno. More about dancing and having a good time than screaming aggression.

That’s not hip-hop on the OP. Ringtone rap is what it is.

I listen to this before an afternoon nap.

Satisfying and cathartic. Drift off to sleepy bye byes with a warm feeling and wide smile on your face.
