OK, I'm going to have to admit I made a mistake. I came home, modem was connected but not online. Got very frustrated, checked a heap of settings, rebooted it a few times, got more frustrated. Checked the tiscali site to see if we had service issues. Nothing. Got on the phone to them and fortunately decided to at least go through the initial script with them without moaning. And while we were gong through it all, and I was subconcsiously cursing them for their service fault, I spotted my on router the connection settings changed to PPPoE. I almost launched into a complaint, then realised I'd made the change to re-initiate the correct settings but had been distracted and made a cup of coffee and not set them back to normal, the first glitch had been a momentary disconnect and would have returned in minutes if I hadn't faffed.

Gutted. But I feel better having got it out.
