Why the need to modify words with 'ists' in thread headers?
Genuinely interested...

Along with the word 'fettle' and 'email me for pics', adding -ists is one of the few things that get on my tits about this place.

I wondered if I would get it off the flamerists for posting this but clearly I'm not alone in disliking this!

Adding "trackworld" to the end of things they want to know about.

Shedtrackworld
Logburnertrackworld.
Etc.

It doesn't even make any sense.

Unless this is actually a website for singles.

Not to mention the people who feel the need to sign their posts, and better still when it's their username as well, it's at the top of the post, it doesn't need it at the bottom. You don't write your name twice on an envelope when you post it.

I'm a miserable sod but these don't even get into the top 100 of things that piss me off.
Edit...I'm Rachel too.

I don't usually write my name at all on an envelope when I post it.

Serious answer content:

I read somewhere that it's a tribal thing, and quite common on the internet. Groups of people tend to develop a common vocabulary, which is then used to re-affirm the feeling of belonging to the tribe.

Or..... we are all just tw*ts.

Think we can all agree on that.

Hmm, think I may have used all of the above since I started frequenting this place. Along with the obligatory post asking about wood burning stoves(track world). Then again I am a bit of a tw*t.

I concur. It would make more sense to drop "track" too.
