On the mitts versus gloves thing, I've always worn mitts, mostly due to an old injury (snapped tendon between middle and ring finger, and broken knuckle). They are deff warmer than gloves, and I use a mitts with under gloves for faff negation purposes. Bindings are easy to do up/undo with mitts.

mitts are warmer.
especially when you spend a lot of time dragging your hands through the snow to keep yourself upright.

Loved the dreadlocked Swedish skier who ultra baggy pants fell down on the second to last kicker - "Claire Balding will have a field day"
I know I'm a boarder but a lot of the ski slopestyle runs seemed very similar, very few had a definite "style", too much spinning for my old head, was good to see the wall ride used though.
Go Woodsy!

Mitts/Gloves - I normally wear mits when skiing, warmer and its easy to do/undo boot clips etc. If zips are small then you have to take one off but that's easier to do than gloves. Plus my mits are Mammut Extreme so that means I must be a decent skier and cool right ?

Chemmy - she was physched to even make it to the games. I think her best prior result was 13th so 19th with all the injuries is a result.

How about those Japanese 'kids" an Olympic snow medal at 15 ! White is an old man at 27 ๐Ÿ™‚

jeez the BBC's "day at the olympics" is more like "talk to our presents for utter jibberish" at the olympics,
the coverage of the mens double luge was PATHETIC......
but hey lets cut away and show our presenters talking about some british hopeful placed 19th....

seriously have the BBC actually shown a Associated Press interview yet of a gold / silver / bronze medalist that isnt BRITISH....

Your mistake is only watching the what happens to be offered on the main telly channel.

Try hitting the red button for other sports or using the website (which is currently showing Men's Slopestyle Skiing, Women's Cross Country 10km, Men's Curling and Short Track - all Live on now)

Really? I thought it was pretty universal as it is just some extra channels really. We manage it okay just across the border in NE Englandshire.

The red button icon might not be there (it's not on our telly) but it still works if you press it. Part of the DTV spec afaik.

Whats happening to Woodsy????

5th, which is more than good enough given the injury he was skiing through!

Good on him! He'll be disappointed, certainly, but he'll be back for more!

nope no red button, we get channel 301 BBC, thats just 1 extra feed, so in total we get BBC2 coverage and 301 coverage.

people in other regions of scotland get red button as we used to have it where we lived before, but inverness way. nope.

Shame when Woodsy was being interviewed they tried to put a bit of a downer on him getting 5th, even though he was really chuffed.

"I can do triples, I have got them," says James Woods before going on to admit he would not have been competing had it not been an Olympic final.

"In any other occasion I would not be near my skis and boots. Potential is something that can be great or can cut you deep. I cannot be unhappy with this - it is the world stage.

Fifth in the Olympics, with four of my best mates in front of me, it is great."

Well, you will live in a cultural backwater, you can't blame the BBC for that. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Out of interest I just tried comparing Freeview coverage in Inverness to my house (Northumberland).

Inverness: 6 Freeview HD, Up to 20 Freeview channels, 13 radio stations
My house: 6 Freeview HD, Over 50 Freeview channels, 24 radio stations

http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability

Ah well. There is still the internet broadcasts.

Weird. Although we only get 301 and 302. Does nothing happen if you press red?

That's OK. It's an excuse to fire up Filmon and watch it with better commentary in your native tongue (guess what I did?)

Update:

It seems that FilmOn still sucks less than Media Hint on an Android tablet, which doesn't work for me at all.

However in my desperation to find a decent alternative, I have come across Hola. Has anyone tried this out?
