Clearly from the cultural, social and political mind of Michael Sheen. Adam Curtis' fingerprints all over it. Nice timing from the schedulers with the great BBC2 Miners' Strike documentary yesterday. Just 'odd' enough to bother a traditional Monday night drama audience. All good so far.
Maybe a bit heavy handed in places, but I really like Sheen's storytelling and direction. Visually pretty cool too (not just the Curtisy stuff, but I really like the 'casual' feel of the cinematography). Kind of hoping it goes totally bonkers as the story progresses.
I've watched and enjoyed the film and walked the way several times myself. The film is pretty close to the experiences of many pilgrims whatever their reasons for walking.
I'm not sure it needs thinking about though, it's just a film and Michael Sheen is just an actor. As for heavy handed, why?
Different story @Edukator. Michael (not Martin) Sheen has directed a drama about a steel making plant closing in a fictional Wales for the BBC, it's not the 2010 film about the Camino de Santiago.

Business secretary Kemi Badanoch had a rant about it being anti-tory propaganda about the recent announcement of the closure of the furnaces at Port Talbot.
In reply Michael Sheen pointed out that it takes slightly longer than a couple of weeks to write, cast, film and edit a high quality, multi-part drama and that the script was actually written in 2016, so that its became a prophecy isn't really his fault

We've got it lined up to watch tonight. I love all Adam Curtis's documentaries so I'm intrigued to see how he films a drama
Watched first couple episodes. I meant to only watch the first but it really drew me in; it is a little more unsettling that I thought it would be from the trailers. Really enjoyed it.

Its on my "need to get round to it" list, so encouraged to see folk enjoying it.
Watched the first one.
Started off interestingly odd, then became an intriguing study into how small things can snowball give the right circumstances, how families can find themselves in different sides of a dispute etc, but then quickly degenerated to "this is just stupid now". Deploying the Army, closing the border and helicopter gunships over Port Talbot, one week into a strike? Come on now, behave.
Won't be watching any more.
Yeah, really enjoyed it. Dark, bonkers, disturbing, silly. More of this please.
