Those people who stand head and shoulders above the rest of us - what is it that enables them to do this?

I've been trying to work it out for years. Got a few ideas and theories that aren't bullet proof.

What do you think?

Self belief. Singularity of mind. Excellent self publicity.

some people excel at whatever they do, some people find there way onto the path that they will excell the most at. others will never excel.

I belive i will never excel at anything as i am too much of an all-rounder!

Twisting the truth.

Being comfortable in throwing your weight around when you think it's necessary.

Successfully offloading culpability onto others for your mistakes.

Successfully gaining recognition for someone else's good work and/or ideas.

Leaving everyone else to do all the organising and being utterly disinterested in informing subordinates about key issues.

Being completely comfortable in exploiting people whilst making these individuals feel lucky they still have a job.

LOL. Have I become an old cycnic?

Having watched a few 'successful' people in the corporate world over the last 10 years or so it would seem a winning formula is to be mates with some one significant/important, alot of self publicity, pointing out lots of things that are crap, claiming to have fixed said crap things and then moving to the next job before anyone identifies all the things you broke in your 12 months in charge of 'x' dept which you knew **** all about....
