Nope.

It's pop music.

For kids.

gimme big mac

gimme fries to go !

Have to say that I'm not as impressed as I was hoping for, then again I haven't liked many of their recent efforts until I'd listened to them a few times.

I think it'll be a grower tbh

I'd also agree that the dirtchamber sessions (and in particular the annie mac version before he had chance to 'tidy' it all up) is one of my fave mixes

So. Band A contributes to band B's early singles, that obviously makes Band B a "poor man's" band A. Yeah ok mate.

No its because PWEI were one of the earlier bands to take dance and rock influences and mix them together and the fact that Clint Mansell has more musical talent in his smelly dreads than the whole of Prodigy put together.

Bet you're the life and soul of a party.

Thats the thing, if you want to play some music at a party to rave to or whatever, then this new album fits the bill.

However, as an album that you would sit down and listen to, its pretty whack. Not a patch on The Experience, MFTJG or Fat of the Land.

Too many of the songs sound a bit samey and bland (maybe not the best way of describing it) They sound like Freestylers or Pendulum tracks, not very original at all. A couple of the songs sound like there old school stuff before MFTJG.

However, the album is pityfully short (about half the length of MFTJG) and has no epic tracks in it like Narayan, No Good, Speedway etc. Plus all of the songs annoy me by the fact they seem to tightly structured.

Overall, its probably most like The Experience, but if you really enjoyed the Prodigy of MFTJG and Fat of the Land then Im not sure whether you'll enjoy this.

To me, the thing is - there's so much more new and exciting stuff out there than expecting old bands to come up with something fresh sounding. Go discover!

Exactly, the Prodigy had there time many years ago, theres much more interesting stuff about.

If your easy to please and just want something to rave to then you'll probably like this album, otherwise try something else.

Let's all agree to disagree.

Crikey, if you lightened up a bit, no doubt your life would be a 'riot'

Come on then BoardinBob, what counts as good dance music? Jeff Mills? OK, but pretty dull.

Mills hasn't done anything interesting musically since his Purpose Maker stuff back in '97

Stuff floating the boat for me at the moment

Redshape
Modeselektor
Bumper
Den Haan
Marc Houle
Paul Blackford
Pilooski
Zomby
Prins Thomas
etc etc

Monolake

Whats that?

Is it a disease that effects people who cant enjoy a house party unless its playing the latest 'underground' music?

See some of that list sounds pretty similar to The Prodigy, but because less people have heard of them you consider them to be more cool.

Also a lot of it is alright music, but not something I would choose to go out and dance/party too. Some of it is also pretty poor, and no more sophisticated than anything The Prodigy have made, but has an arguably less commercial sound.

The fact is that most dance music is fairly disposable - I love some of it and have DJ'd for many years, but if I want timeless, quality music with emotional depth, I listen to some jazz or something. The Prodigy have made some classic tunes and it seems like you take dance music way too seriously.

I haven't really liked a Prodigy album much since Experience though I have to say.

If you want a really good (and free) remix session of The Prodigy's finest, go here:

http://www.dogsonacid.com/showthread.php?threadid=323957

50-something tracks iirc.

Just listening to the Invaders album on iTunes. Love the old skool samples in Warriors Dance (track 6).

The whole UK rave scene bastardized the sounds coming out of Detroit and Chicago to the point where the focus was on getting off your t.i.t.s. rather than the music.

Music doesn't start pure, then go on to be unfortunately bastardised. It's in constant flux as artists influence others. House music was strongly influenced by elements of soul- and funk-infused varieties of disco.

Now who's bastardising?

Also, Detroit techno and Chicago house scenes were renowned for being awash with drugs. I suppose it's debatable where the 'focus' was.

right, where can i download some tracks drm free (of the legal sort) ?

Bob, i really think you take yourself far too seriously though some me the stuff you listed is admittedly good, some is laughably crap from someone who seems to think they're a musical guru...

Anyway, that's enough music geekery for me. Listen to what you like, eh...

Came home to find my copy on the doormat - I'm suiitably impressed, although it isn't their best work.
Loving Run With The Wolves at the moment. I'm not sure Stand Up quite fits with the rest of the album though.
Interesting to see Dave Grohl has done the drum bashing on some of the tracks too.

Definitely a cd that needs to be played 'kin LOUD!

I know, but I don't know how to send a direct message to the_Lecht_Rocks. I'm hoping it will flag an email that someone responded a message he posted.
