More worryingly is that the indoor thermostat is 2 degrees from turning the heating on.

Time to turn the thermostat off then 🤔😉

Er... don't let the thermostat tell you it's not still September... get that bugger turned off... or in frost protection mode.

I live in jeans apart from actually hot days.

My better half keeps suggesting that I put on my lounge pants, which I believe are basically pyjamas.

And then a dressing gown.

This is for evenings at home, of course.

I much prefer denim and a hoodie, I find them far more comfortable.

You know science says most of your body heat is lost via the head right? A hat means shorts for longer

Think that was an army study comparing people wearing warm clothes and no hat to people wearing warm clothes and a hat.

If you're togged up warm in a cold place but got your head uncovered, of course you're going to lose a lot of heat from the bit that's not covered.

Scientific answers don't teach you very much unless you know what the question was!

Another 6 weeks or so before I drag trousers out for anything other than work. I tend to go for long sleeves before trousers and yes, sometimes a titfer with shorts..

Shorts and hat here too, my male pattern baldness isn’t a good pattern so I’m shaved on top and it’s chilly in here.

I did do a trial run of the heating this morning as I’d spotted the boiler pressure was down near zero when I was sorting the recycling next to it. Rads all bled and a squirt of Fernox for when we do fire it up properly.

I reckon I’ll be wearing shorts & a T shirt every day for the month of October.
Seeing as me & Mrs Efg will be in Southern Spain.

😎😎😎😎

I will however, take a waterproof.

100% this. It's nothing but relative to covered parts of the body.

It is a little chilly, my nice glass of Kangaroo Merlot is now actually chilled as I'm outside basking in the warmth of my fire pit (do not fret it's 100% environmentaly friendly, I'm burning recycled mountain bike trail, rotten boardwalk).

October 1st is first day of long trousers #inthenorth 😀

Also too early. By north I take it you mean Birmingham?

Well, Brum’s about eighty miles north of where I am, so yeah. Got shorts on, will keep wearing shorts as far into October as possible, and as I got sunburned on holiday in South Devon a few years back during the first week of October, I think I’m well justified.
I wore a hoodie over my tee shirt to the pub tonight, with a quilted US Army parka liner over that, and a thin wool beenie, and was perfectly comfy.

Shorts and a hat?!?!?

Yeah, I’ve got no hair to speak of, with a cool wind a thin beenie makes a big difference. I don’t expect people who have hair to understand.
I see people wearing hoodies with the hoods up, and puffa-style jackets in mid-summer - now that’s bloody weird!

What’s the fascination with wearing shorts all the time?

What’s it supposed to be a sign of?

I only need to wear shorts if it is hitting 25+ outside. Other than that it is long trousers. Just like I don't walk around in a T shirt when it is 10 degrees outside.

I don't suffer from having hot legs so not really sure why shorts are necessary unless it is very hot where minimal clothing and a bit of air flow makes sense.

AS a relatively skinny (if you ignore the tumtum), I also love winter. I basically don't ride my bike in over 18degrees because i feel like death. give me snow and rain any day!
