Wife's just phoned me, it would appear our little bundle of pyscho has been expelled from puppy class. He did ok last week but has tonight again tried to kill all other dogs. Do we persevere or call it a day?

Do you intend on taking him skiing during term time?

We have a rough haired jack Russell no bigger than a bag of sugar with legs (7 years old) soft as s**t with kids and human beings - he has zero recall, will chase and fight any animal he comes into contact with. My father in law an ex gamekeeper has tried every thing with the bloody thing from day one and he claims it's the only dog in 60 years he couldn't sort out - in conclusion it's probably just "raged" (Northern term for mentally damaged) as long as it's ok with humans you may have to live with it - ours has calmed down as he has got older.

The dogs not stupid he has an outside "pound" which he gets put in when he steps out of line and when he is in the shit he sits by the pound door waiting to get locked up ?

If that is the way schools treat our troubled youth then we are in trouble. I mean, it could end up on the streets, in gangs, with little job prospects. Poor pooch.

He's a lost cause it would seem. The wife is now convinced it's his food, too much protein apparently. Is it really that complex?

Maybe he needs to learn how to behave around other dogs from dogs. You need a stunt dog to sit him on his ass without doing any damage. Maybe a dog psychologist could point you towards one or offer some help.

Seems a shame to write him off so early in his life.

Best keep an eye on him, this could be his gateway to harder dugs.

Nah I'm not writing him off, the little dude ain't going anywhere fast, he's so good with people and kids alike. However because we're so into the big outdoors, walking, camping and such like we need him to be good with other dogs.

Ours was the same. Good as gold for the first 8 weeks at puppy class, when we got into the level 2 group we'd sit as normal for a few minutes then the next minute he'd be latched onto another dogs face. They asked us to come back with a muzzle or not to come back. We tried for a while but it wasn't helping so we jacked it in.

He'll still attack dogs when he first meets them, but if we spend 10 minutes with the dog/owner Win will be on his back wanting to play.

He's a staff, so at least he's doing his bit to destroy the stereotype. ๐Ÿ™„

How about 1 on 1 training so that the dogs attitude to other dogs can be focused upon. All the other training stuff is for nought if you gave to walk him at 4 in the morning to avoid other dogs.

We had a labrador when we were kids. He got expelled too- on the first night. Tried to bite another dog, the teacher and then urinated on the floor.
She asked us not to come back.

I'd say things get better, but they didn't. The dog would bolt out the front door at every opportunity. In the end we gave up chasing him. He'd be down the park chasing the birds and would come back when he felt like it.
Chewed everything too (resulting in a week in a coma when he chewed a cupboard door off and ate slug pellets). Such a soft daft old thing though. Loved that dog.
