The usual panic has set in. Tesco and Co are closed for one day (well they are around here). Cue panic buying of bread and milk etc.... All to be thrown in the bin in a few days time 😐

130 today for ancillaries, veg, basics for us for the hols.. Prob about another £140 spent already for turkey, ham stuffing and booze.
Got 8 coming on chrimbo day, I'm starting back at work sunday night so first figure included my dinners and some cakes for work!!
My wife came home from work with a bottle of highland park, a few decent bottles of wine and a wee hamper thing so that's helped..

If the above stats are rolled out over the population as a whole, everyone is going to have about 5 Christmas lunches.

(that wasn't worked out, and is a total guess, someone else can do it accurately.)

Christmas isn't Christmas without a bit ofPata Negra and a bit of good cheese, lunch and a selection of other cheeses and meats for dinner. Best not give you bill for the wine then, had I?

pata negra is amazing stuff, much nicer than any italian ham. First had it at a Spanish wedding in 2004.

And not something you mess around with trying to save a few quid either.

i received some lovely thin sliced chorizo today that's easy on the parprika and i swear you can smell the acorn fed ham. dunno what it's called but it tastes divine.
magnum of la rioja alta vina ardanza already at the folks, a nice godello, Gulbenzu evo and some pedro-ximenez that's nearly as old as me.

no £8 shitty bottles of port for me. not a snob just appreciate nice food/wine for the taste not the label. no expensive champagne just a £10 bottle of prosecco with a dash of Aperol, much nicer.

did spend far to much on cheese though, morbier, reblochon, cashel blue and some comté that's £25 gone.

was having a similar conversation in the pub with mates this evening.

My £150 seems a bit odd.

That's £50 on top of a normal £100 a week shop (for four), there's 5 of us on Sunday.

The freezer is ALWAYS full of good meat. I don't want a Turkey very much. I have a choice of chicken, pork, lamb or quail for the day.

No money spent for this weekend in particular except for on a few more vegetables than usual.

We've been acquiring bits and pieces from the local farmers markets for months. Not going shopping again until next year except for a single carton of natural yoghurt deemed essential for a recipe by my 12 year old. Shouldn't be a problem. She's a late riser so I should be able to get it out of the fridge, wrap it and get it under the tree before she gets there on Sunday. 😀

NB If she spends all day tomorrow asking me at 5 minute intervals what I have bought her for xmas like she has spent the past week, it may be all she gets.

Cooking for 6.

120 quid at Sainsbury's today (maybe 20 quid was everyday stuff).
65 quid at the butchers for various lumps of pork.
20 quid for veg and stuff at the local greengrocers.

That doesn't include booze (in-laws sorting that).

slainte 😀 rob

£90 here for four and that includes the Sainsos £5 delivery charge. When you shop online you don't wander round picking up all the crap and the 3 for 1 offers that you don't really need.
