Episode 1 is up on Disney+

A good start, it's even managed to engage my 11year old daughter, I think she likes the violence 😄.

Robert Rodriguez directed the opener.

Might be a better option to forgo the first episode and wait till next month so you have the next installment ready to view.

Always better watching two than one 😉

How often is it dropping?

I'd also be minded to let a few episodes build up first.

Weekly drops I'd expect.

I prefer old school weekly episodes so me and the boy, and possibly girl as well now, sit down and watch together.

Great start. Loved the nod to Ray Harryhausen with the desert monster.

I'll watch it but .. is it of similar vein to Mandalorian? That's a bit tiresome I'm finding (finally).

Do I need to watch Mandalorian first?

No, so far completely self contained. Helps if you've seen return of the Jedi though.

Interesting, if a tad slow.

It's basically a kid's show. It's entertaining enough but it's fairly predictable.

Technically yes, but it's appealing to 40+ yo men who are still kids (me)

Is it as bad/written by AI as the Mandalorian?

It's more of the same - it's a good kid's show, adults will find it predictable. It's entertaining though.

Yes it’s part of the Star Wars saga so of curse it is.

@Shermer75 that’s the one, Gork or something he’s called.

I'm enjoying it but I'd love it if it was a bit less of a space Western and had some original ideas. Waiting for some underlining storyline to kick in.

Found this week's stage coach robbery a bit meh....

It's Star Wars so of course it's for kids.

It's Star Wars so of course it's predictable.

It's Star Wars so of course it's great fun.

I (37) watched it with my mum (68) and daughters (7,4) and we liked it. 4 year old likes explosions.

pretty good so far. I feel the star wars TV shows have been much better than the marvel ones. Hawkeye was pretty good though.

Just watched the first one and thought of Harryhousen without reading this thread before so happy to see he’s been namechecked already. I enjoyed it. My wife thought it very odd (she loved Manalorian).

The wookiee was from a Star Wars comic apparently. I enjoyed it apart from the disjointedness of the flashback and present day and it did slow down a bit in parts. Much better than the first episode.

If you like simple action stories, sure. Something like Wandavision is a much more subtle concept (it was about a woman overwhelmed with grief inventing a fantasy world). If you're not into that, you're not into it, but the Star Wars stuff is very simple, predictable children's stuff. Entertaining, but very predictable.

Yeah, the Tuskan raiders had the best dialog.

I think its going to be more of the mandalorian type of set up. Short stand alone episodes.

But honestly, back to the dialog, or lack of it rather. Nobody gives a good speech, its just short grunts or 2 lines and thats it. You need to be able to relate to the character, and with nods and grunts the main speaking parts thats never going to happen.

Acting 😕

Was there any or did i just miss it ?.

Watched the first episode yesterday, am I right in thinking this is based after the OG trilogy, but just before the Mandalorian? If so, I dont get the scene when they are crossing the dessert and see what I thought was Luke's uncle being murdered, but didn't that happen in New Hope?

Temuera Morrison has never exactly been a highly expressive actor.

It's set after the Mandolorian, and that was not Lukes uncle being murdered.

It is set directly after the Mandalorian series, some time after Return of the Jedi. Empire is dead, many antagonists trying to fill the power void.
However, when Boba is sleeping in the Bacta tank we see his memories or flashbacks to directly after the fall of Jabba. First him escaping the Sarlacc Pit then being captured by the Tusken Raiders.

If you have seen the Mandalorian you may remember him retrieving Boba's armour from the Jawa's, then Boba chasing him down to retreive his armour.

I don't think that scene was the Skywalker family being killed. They weren't stormtroopers. I think it was a random settlement being raided just to illustrate the lawlessness of the time after the empire has fallen.

It may have just been a way to set up the swoop bike gang taking a beating to get the bikes to take the train

So far so good, I like all the Tusken Raider stuff and expanding the scope of Tattooine, more Hutts, deception here and there and all that good stuff. Interested to see when he gets Slave 1 back.

Also for the proper Star Wars bores, a real deep cut easter egg in episode 2

!> the two folks in the bar were characters from a deleted scene in A New Hope when Luke went to Tosche Station and met with his friends, the first time you see Biggs Darklighter. The two are Camie Marstrap and her boyfriend Laze ‘Fixer’ Loneozner. <!
