Hating stuff just because it is popular makes you a twit.

Hating stuff because it is crap (but may also be popular) is a gentleman’s prerogative.

Has anyone said they hate it because it is popular?

I thought the post in question merely espoused a cessation of viewing activities.

What's a spinach generation?

Good for the spinach generation who don’t have to think for themselves.

I always thought of myself as more of a kale man.

I used to like broccoli but it became popular so I stopped liking it.

Something like 98% of folk still watch programming on the telly by the schedule.

It's partially a demographic problem though (no idea if 98% is accurate). If you watched the BBC 10 years ago you probably still watch it today. If you're under 35 then the stats show massive declines for the BBC and all broadcast V.

BBC viewing figures in hours/week for 18-34yr olds dropped from about 280 minutes a week in 2013/14 to 180 last year.  Across terrestrial channels it switched from a 60:40 split of TV:other 2 years ago for that age range, to 40:60 in just one year last year.

Genuinely not heard of this series until popping on here. Line of Duty is great, so is this worth a punt? On the broadcast TV thing, other than CBeebies I’ve not watched broadcast TV for years. Netflix or Prime all the way.

Can't believe not watching a popular telly programme gets people's backs up 😆

Well, as I no longer have a child young enough to bother watching kid's TV with, I'll give that a miss too.

I had a female doctor check my bollocks and another stick the questing finger up my arse. For free!

I can handle a kids TV show.

I don't think my ten year old kids have ever watched terrestrial tv. If its not on-demand they don't want to know, and struggle with the concept of radio in the car where you cannot pick your own songs.

I ended up binge watching it the other day (wasn't initially going to bother but as the OP says, it keeps getting mentioned everywhere so I figured I may as well). Personally I didn't think it was that great, not dire but I wouldn't really recommend it as a must-see series. I was already starting to lose interest by the end so good thing it was a short series...

Random fact for the day....

Writer/creator Jed Mercurio is a former pupil of my kids primary school in Cannock.

For clarity, my original post on this was just because I was annoyed at the Beeb for advertorialising their own show on the news. Everywhere else- fine by me, news- was shoehorning IMHO.

I'm looking forward to seeing the show and will binge-watch it when I get time. I find Keeley Hawes attractive, and like Jed Mercurio as a writer. Dr Who, with a female lead- also fine by me.

I like all manner of green veg, broccoli, kale- even cabbage.

Started off pretty good for a BBC drama; but the ending was really bad to be fair.

* I like neither spinach, kale or broccoli .. spring cabbage ain’t too bad at a push though.
