That's utterly mad. Obviously the axes aren't sharpened but the force alone must be able to do some extremely serious damage.

(Yes, yes, thousands of years to be pedantic but its obviously a homage to the medieval era rather than earlier. Bloody pedants, the lot of you!😁)
Blunt or not, I would not fancy getting a whack with a lump of metal that heavy.
I can't imagine an heavy axe/ armoured fist to the helmet is much fun either!
I used to fence and there are a ton of fencers who might say they would like to have a go at that.
I suspect everyone thinks it's fun until they get and axe to the face
crap axework, loads of openings to hook a leg out, down and finish an oponent, quickly. these folks need to actually study medieval combat techniques.

wouldn't the standard, cheap, peasant's pole arm be a good choice against an armoured man with an axe?
in a battle with lines which was like a scrum with spikey bits where they can work togeather to trip, pull shields out of the way hold blades down to create openings for thrusts, yes. in a 1 to 1 with a competant fighter using something fun like a dane axe or axe and sheild combo the additonal agility and speed of weapon would favour the axe user.
Be interested to know the weight of the axes. Very low by the look of it. ( Bluntness is irrelevant of course)

Lock down boredom saw me looking at the benefits and weaknesses of various medieval and napoleonic weapons (god I'm so sad) and while pole arms in formation were often covered, individual combat with them was often ignored, in favour of lengthy analysis of different types of sword.

Don't forget the hall of Fame, which I have only recently found out is a proper organisation that votes on who becomes a part of it and so on, rather than just a phrase meaning retired person who was very good.
