There is.  It’s the only group I’ve ever flounced from.

I feel like there's a story there that is going to be less interesting than your cryptic lead-up makes it seem.

It had got to my tesco now. I like the boxes and they just get binned apparently. It sucks.IMG_7422.jpeg

My local Morrisons has the whiskies all locked up in a massive cabinet in the shelf run, but at least they're still in their boxes.

Buying whisky in Tesco is not really middle class now is it?

Dunno, but as I get a decent discount with my Clubcard, I frankly don’t give a toss! Neither do I care much about the box - I’m pretty sure that a box on a bottle of whiskey amounts to about 50p.

I do like the boxes and especially the tubes but tbf it's a total waste of packaging, bit ridiculous that we're still doing it.

The irritating thing is after all that you still need to steal a paper bag from the bakery to complete the look.

We are going all Californian. The coffee was in a locked cupboard at Safeway last time I was there. The only bike shop I was in kept their front door locked to stop theft.

Whisky? Our Tesco still has the whisky in boxes. Middle class suburb though not MK.

As for Club Card discount? Usually only gets it down to the Amazon price. And of course for cooking whisky Amazon is under the MUP Price.  EG. Grouse Smoky Black. MUP £18.20. Amazon £16.20

I often ask them to keep the box, to avoid me storing it "just in case", so this doesn't bother me personally - but I fully support your right to have your nice box on the shelf.

We don't drink booze, but my wife likes some alcohol free gin on occasion, that's also netted due to theft issues and she's even been age checked for it! At her age getting asked for id is a compliment though lol!

If you get Tesco.com delivery, will it come in the box?

Nope! Products get picked by pickers straight off the shelf of your local Tesco. Except in the rare cases where they have home deliveries straight from warehouses (I think Kent has one). Most are straight from the shelves of local stores.

What's the advantage of these weird security nets over the collars that go round the neck of the bottle?

Tesco whisky is nearly always dual priced as well.  A fine for not joining their data mine.    Sounds tinfoil but I saw a very worrying advert at Sainsbury on Monday for the Nectar app.  "prices selected just for you".  Sounds like a forerunner of dynamic pricing?

At a guess. One size fits all.

Two points.

1 The beauty of whisky is INSIDE the bottle.

2  Buy your whisky from your local independent  whisky shop
