At the time of release a Fangoria spread on the film pointed out that based on their nothing dead will go time travel tech, there's far too much hair present in both films.

Still a corker, though...

Hair isn't actually dead.

Predator is Arnie's finest by miles and I really rate it as the best blokes action/scifi film ever made. It's not the best story, best acting or anything like that but it is perfect for what it is. When it's on I watch it, I can't say the same for any of the Terminator films.

Hair isn't actually dead.

Well, that explains that away then...

Edit : Although a quick Google would suggest that the stuff on the outside of the scalp is dead. I have no idea as I'm not a biologist of any sort, but the general (mis ?)conception seems to be that it is.

Regardless, there's too much hair because it was filmed in the eighties, so I was, ultimately, correct...

just watched Hunt for Red October then Star Trek (2009) on Film4.

So he can time travel.

Isn't this Terminator 101 - I thought everyone on this forum knew this geeky type of shit...

I've no idea and don't care to be honest it's pointless as it's just entertainment. It's nearly as bad as those complaining about the 79 gears on a motorbike but not questioning 2 cyborgs travelling through time.

T1 is raw as ****, by comparison T2 is High School Musical

Cameron should have stopped making films after T1

That's either a massive accident or one of the greatest puns this forum's ever seen.

The most important thing to remember here is that it's a good job they didn't ruin it by making more Terminator films after T2 wrapped it up nicely.

Right?

RIGHT?

I snuck in as a 17 year old and after dropping a purple ohm. The melting molten metal scene at the end was awesome.

Yes that's correct - I also heard George Lucas was considering making 3 prequels to Star Wars - thank good he didn't do that, can you imagine?

If we're talking here about coll one liners, effects that still look good and a knowing script then surely Robocop requires a mention here. I could practically recite the whole film at 15 years old.

P.S. Everyone knows that Arnie's best film was Commando - 'I let him go', classic.

one of the greatest puns this forum's ever seen.

Thank you, sir - that's quite an accolade considering some of the talent around this place.

I quite liked the sweetheart line, too, but it was lost on Drac. And the T.1 reference on the Stupid things you get asked in your job thread, but it just slipped into obscurity.

Last night, while watching the opening scene with the missus, I mouthed the What the hell, goddamn sonofabitch. What the hell... line with precise timing (I hadn't watched the film for many years before last night). She just glared at me out of the side of her neck.

I know - sad git...

It was and best of all it was posted pretty much on that scene, which I'm sure you knew.

Nope. Watching the news channel at that time IIRC.

Good timing then.

I did the quote of the guy driving the dump truck too with perfect timing, I bet it's 15 years since I've seen the original.

I prefer the Bourne and Matrix movies myself, but most of those mentioned had something that got them noticed.

Vasquex in Aliens is Connors foster mum in T2 bit of Trivia for you.

shes also in Near Dark along with Bishop and Hudson which was directed by Katherine Bigalow, who was James Camerons then wife

also Brakes mentioned Star Trek 2009 being a good film
NO, you need you deserve a self slapping session- see from 25 secs in

the star trek reboot had no soul, Wrath of Kahn on the other hand.........

another issue I have with T2 is that because arnies temrinator was a pop phenomenon by then, it was aimed at a lower age group (was only a 15) so from massacarring every cop in the police station in T1, by T2 hes shooting police with grenades and a minigun but not actually killing them in an A-Team style.

whilst comparisons are unavoidable especially with all the character remoulds, it was made 27 years later than Wrath of Khan. things have moved on, it's a different kind of movie. I like it.

Wasn't that because Arnie refused to do it if he was killing people again? A bit like Alien 3 - Sigourny Weaver refused to do it if there were guns so the contrived the plot where she could kill the Alien without them.

Biggest mistake they made with Alien Cubed was killing off Newt rather than ageing her by a dozen years.

The new Star Treks are decent enough films, I thought. Never really liked the old ones.

But the white Khan is a bit of a booboo.

Or it's part of the plot line.

Or the plot line was written around the star's instructions?

SB: Did you have any say about there not being any guns?
SW: I think I said no to guns, but it wasnโ€™t up to me to dictate those kind of things, but to me it was more original to investigate what real courage is. Which is when you donโ€™t have any weapons and you cannot even get along with each other, how do you go about fighting this common enemy?

From here - so it seems she was asking, but not specifically refusing.

Or this

Also Alien 3 begins Weaver having way more control and say over the script and story. James Cameron talks on the commentary for โ€œAliensโ€ that Sigourney Weaver had three rules for doing โ€œAliensโ€

1. No Guns

2. Ripley needed to have sex or some form of sexual encounter with the Alien

3. Ripley had to die.

Cameron laughed and said โ€œI didnโ€™t do anything of those things.โ€ Cameron also said of Alien 3 โ€œWell, I guess Sigourney got to make the Alien film she always wanted to.โ€ Though Alien 3 lacks and โ€œSex with the alienโ€ Alien 4 doesnโ€™t. BUT Alien 3 has no guns, and Ripley dies. So how is Alien 3? With all the problems, lack of purpose, to many cooks in the kitchen and no script? Honestlyโ€ฆ not that bad.
