Weird

2 Beastie Boys - Ill Communication
3 Counting Crows - August and Everything After

After that I'm struggling between Cracker - Kerosene Hat, Harry Connick, Jr - She, Dis Jam - Phuturing the Poetry of Lemn Sissay, AC/DC - Back in Black, Sia - We Are Born, Goldfrapp - Black Cherry, Prince - Purple Rain... or something else. To be honest I could almost fill the top 10 with Prince albums 🙂

John Martyn - Solid Air
The Smiths - Queen is Dead
Stone Roses - Stone Roses
Mercury Rev - Deserters Songs

If I could make it a top 15, I'd also include

Curtis Mayfield - Superfly
I could easily add another 20 or 30 from those posted above!

Its like none of you have ventured away from Radio 1/2 for you musical inspirationWeird
I was suprised it took so long but Plumber gets the musical niche-snob prize 🙂
It's like being 15 all over again...
...oh and I forgot to include a Fall album. Probably Extricate as that was the one they were plugging the first time I saw them live.
And I've got to include the Pogues too. Probably Rum, Sodomy and the Lash....
Oh dear. <brain explodes>
Maybe radio 1 and 2 play selections from the popular choices because, erm, they're great?
Maybe people weren't self-consciously picking obscure albums that would make them seem cool and mysterious?
Maybe, shock horror, it's okay to listen to albums that lots of other people also like?
Although I haven't seen much that radio 1 would be playing, have you listened to that station since DLT left? It's changed a bit...
I was suprised it took so long but Plumber gets the musical niche-snob prize
Ahhhh, it's a niche thing... I've got loads of weird stuff I could add too with a couple of great tracks per album. But we're not talking about that kind of thing, are we 🙂
EDIT: What Edlong said.
How did I forget John Martyn 😳
No no no, you're not allowed to like anything popular. The act of being popular fundamentally changes the music to make it less good.
Get with it!
(Come to think of it, it's a bit like some people on here with bikes...)
Plumber don't burn your tongue on that coffee by drinking it before it's cool.
The interesting thing about these lists is just how eclectic they are.

Its like none of you have ventured away from Radio 1/2 for you musical inspiration
Weird
I'd be very surprised to hear anything from this thread on Radio 1, and relatively little on Radio 2.
6Music, on the other hand...
I'm gonna have to give this a lot of thought, there are so many albums over so many years, trying to compile a list of my top ten is tricky.
