Heard "This Is The Thing" by Fink the other day.
Really old track but I can't stop listening to it.
Anyone heard anything lately that has really impressed them, be it old or new?
I need some more music inspiration.
'Nutshell' by Alice in Chains.
Really liking First Aid Kit at the minute..
this song.....not cos i am a fan or owt.
because my old mum told me to play it at her funeral.... 😐
First Aid Kit are amazing.
Their voices just seem to melt together.
Never heard harmonies like it.
Buffalo - Gaz Coombes
Walk on hot coals - Rory Gallagher. Old grey whistle test version is good on YouTube
Make Way For Mongol Horde, by Mongol Horde. Just got the album, it's fairly rubbish frankly but the guitar on this one is just ridiculous, works so well with the drums so I can almost ignore Frank's yelpy vocals.
Mt. Aloha by Menhir
Oh the riffage!!
The Sundays - I Kicked a Boy
Love the Handsome Boy Modelling School tune - the middle of my favourite 3 tracks in a row of any album I've heard.
Not usually a fan of such vocal led dance music but a mate recently played an edit of this as his 6am set ending tune as the sun was rising and it was definitely a chest swelling feel good out in the middle of the hills moment (had absolutely nothing to do with the MDMA we had consumed for the previous 12 hrs) 😉
The song from ABBA's last album.
What a brilliant song.
[b]Abba - Super Trouper

Wow!…..never heard that before, is it out yet?…who's remixing it?.

You need to search for it though as that is a highly priced album beating everything you have heard hands down. If you don't like it then you have a very poor taste in music. 😆
Cool thread! Not sure I have anything to offer myself.
This is pretty ridiculous - not normally a fan of brutal dubstep but I quite like this.

I'll check discogs, see if i can track down a copy……
ps : now't wrong wi a bit of pop perfection, i remember my mum playing that very loud back in the early 80's, my dad preferred fleetwood mac.
Five Finger Death Punch - House of the Rising Sun
Hideaway, the video is excellent , one long tracking shot.

That is a very funny song with a very funny video. Makes me happy. 😀
Credit to the nice young happy looking girl singing there.
I like it but I doubt it will stick.
Ok, here's a tune I heard recently the first time in a long time.
A gift from me to you.

Nahhh ... that's no good because that song/music cannot really decide the direction it's heading. A bit like someone mixing songs/music because s/he has all the equipments. This is what I called a forgetful song/music 😀
If there's a better ABBA song than Cassandra, I'd like to know about it.
I heard America by The Nice on 6Records last week, completely forgotten just how outrageously good that is.
I like the Fink record, but one that I'm really enjoying on 6Records is Luke Sittal-Singh's new one, Bottled Up Tight
He's got a great voice, and can turn out a bloody good tune. I saw him a year or so back, supporting The Staves in Bristol, and I was pretty impressed with his performance, he's really worth checking out.
Chewy , you clearly have a diabolical taste in music .
I am now going to hit you with the greatest musical composition ever .
If you do not feel the love, there is no hope for you.
Thanks to whoever it was on here a couple of weeks ago...
Babymetal - Gimme Chocolate 8)
Megitsune by the same band is also rather good!
Sixtoes - Hawthorns
Great track hope the rest of the album will be as good when it comes out.
This has BLOWN MY TINY MIND
Also, Evereve did a much better House of The Rising Sun
Then if you like that, the live version is pretty cool too:
Still the best new track I've heard this year
Just the work needed to get everything timed to perfection in the one take...
Beirut
This is so great.
So many different styles of music to chose from and some belting tunes that I'd have never otherwise heard.
Thanks for everyone's contributions.
Just thinking the same!
CountZero - MemberIf there's a better ABBA song than Cassandra, I'd like to know about it.
Not my favourite from ABBA but the alternative is The Carpenter.
Carpenters - Superstar
Not new but it has taken me a long time to find it.
Aaaannnnd a recent one.
Great thread! This is the last thing that had me stop what I was doing and turn up the radio.
Then, as soon as it finished, google it to hear it again. But louder, with headphones. Quite a few times!
Repetitive, yes; Marmite, I'm sure. But it's just so startlingly weird. Hypnotic.
Now going to listen to everyone else's!
And not so recently, more like 23 years ago: The first song that really blew my socks off - affected me physically, goosebumps, chills, quickening pulse, the lot.
Sorry I don't know how to put up YouTube links, but here's a couple more.
'Lotus' by Mumbai Science.
'Velocet Vir Nesat' by Eat Lights Become Lights.
Rediscoved on a Life on Mars sountrack CD I found in the glovebox of Mrs S's car.
Jesus, what a band.
