evening,
mate has broke his tiscali router, told him to buy a tidy NetGear one.

anyway, when i set this up is it just a case of connecting it up, waiting for the laptop to 'find it' double click the wireless lan card icon in the tray, double click the router icon then stick in the 'network key' which should be on a barcode label on the back of the new router/ in the manual? (this worked fine when i re-install XP on my laptop, once i put the Dell wireless app back on it found the connection fine.

the reason i ask is he did buy a dodgy Buffalo router from Argos and the laptop would just not see it so he took it back.

so just wondering is Tiscali different??

cheers

Not sure about it having a sticker with it on, but i think once its connected and switched on, you should be able to type http://192.168.0.1/ into your web browser, then use the user name 'admin' and 'password' for password.

This should get you into the netgear setup screen where you can set the wireless password etc. Best to use WPA as WEP is a piece of piss to crack.

cheers, i cant believe how easy the netgear on my sky broadband was to set up though after full re-install of XP. i never went into the settings via the browser just did it all through the dell wireless card app.

i mean regardless of your provider an internet connection - is an internet connection at the end of the day....

i'll give it a shot tomorrow
