How do I use things like underline, bold, URL etc when posting on this forum?
The appropriate icons on the toolbar just give me a text transcript of the command e.g. rather than changing the text.
Is there something I need 'enable' or an application I need to download?

thanks

Press the one you want, type the text and press it again.

Press it once before the text you want to change, then press again after it.

as I understand it for any hypertext mark up you need to select the function ( hit the button once ) type the text you want and then hit the button again to "close" the function

or hey... highlight the text and then hit the function button once

When you edit your post, you only see the tags (the commands in the square brackets). When you post it, it changes it (it's not WYSIWYG).

You can just highlight the text & press the relevant button, it'll do the formatting for you

If you have a crappy browser, that doesn't work.

Also if you select the text you want to alter then press the appropriate button it wraps the text with the right bit of code.

Edit: Uplink also beat me to it.

yep, doesn't work for me if you highlight the text and press once..which is what I'd been doing for ages. The prefixing and suffixing works fine.

Thanks very much for help guys ๐Ÿ˜€

There is a "Preview Post" button that lets you see what it will look like without damaging your reputation.
