[#7756089]

Dunno, thinking maybe we could do a sweepstake - £5 per horse and split pot with 50% going to one of maybe MacMillan or other?

We've got 44 runners (unless there have been any drop-outs already) so £220 with £110 to charity and rest say...£60, £30, £15 & £15 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.

Any other way to do it other than sending money via PayPal gift? ( 🙂 ) and divvying it out afterwards?

Anyway, if it's s goer and we get 44 interested, I'll sort it out this evening when I'm home. You'll just have to take my word that the horse draw is independently adjudicated. 😀

So long as it's got 4 legs on the start line and a little chap on top, put me down for one.

PPG is fine for me. I'm heading out soon so if you put your email up I'll do it now and if you don't get the numbers just send it back.

PPG is darcyciaran[at]mac[dot]com

Stick your STW username as reference. We'll keep it going this evening and up till mid-afternoon tomorrow (unless it gets filled tonight, in which case I'll do the draw this evening).

EDIT: only 37 more to go. 😀

If "On His Own" doesn't come out for jamba, I'm cancelling the whole thing.

EDIT: As it's gift, there won't be any fees for PP to collect will there?

Two for me dd.
I had to sack the click sergeant door knocker off last night so more than happy for my likely tenner to go in to the charity pot.
Also paid by the way.
Never ppg'd before so let me know if you got it 😀

Where we at darcy? Have a mate who isn't stw but will probably chuck in if we need some more. And plaudits were plaudits due, great idea, and a great way to get stuff in to a charity. Top work fella

So far we've got:

Me (I'll stick a tenner in for two): 2
jaylittle: 1
Stoner: 1 x donkey
IHN: 1
sadmadalan: 1
dannybgoode: 1
Bregante: 1
Jamba: 2 x donkeys
wrightyson: 2
binners: 1

Think that's 13.

We could always aim for 22 sales. 2 horses each and Halve each prize?

I was thinking that jaylittle - can't see this getting to 44 by tomorrow's race. I will do an initial draw in the morning once we've sorted out who's in by tonight. Maybe if there are some tasty ones left in the pot, that might tempt some of the STW reluctant punters.

Are we definitely not allowed in if we only want to bet on how many [s]willing participants[/s] animals die then?

You can stick a fiver in. If your horse dies, you get your money back. How's that sound?

EDIT: minus your donation to charity.

At the start of this thread I nearly mentioned the nay sayers of racing. Anyhoo let's not let them derail a possible 100 sheets going to charity.

Some may prefer several not dead horses over £100 going to charity.

Horses for courses, tho.

bongo, I believe the race will be run tomorrow whether we do our little sweepstake or not. We're not giving the bookies our money. I also understand that perhaps sweepstakes encourage the whole carnival around the event and that objections based on what I'm doing here may have some validity. I get that.

Y'know, I'm kinda torn myself these days on national hunt horse racing - indeed I've been fairly anti the GN in the past. I dunno...thought this might be a way to have a bit of a giggle and raise a few quid. (Not that I'm having much success, mind 🙂 ) I really don't want to go and argue about it now. I'm sure there will be thread fighting about it tomorrow. If not, then feel free to start one.

Mods - sorry for that
