[#9420843]

I’ve already done a thread about the “Dust People” that my daughter sees and have mentioned the door that unlocks and opens itself and how we were once all looking for a Thomas the Tank Engine toy in the dining room then it came flying through an open door, from an empty room, like it had been gently tossed towards us.

Well… last night we were all in a one room when we heard a noise. On investigation a smoke alarm (in the old 1810 bit of the house) had fallen off the ceiling, gone up a step, travelled along a short landing, turned into my son’s bedroom, got to the other end of the room and parked itself by the window. A journey of about 15ft that required it to go up a stair and negotiate itself round a corner, over a thick rug and around the piles of detritus on his bedroom floor.

I have no idea how this happened.

Ghost or aliens?

Maybe, if you had more time to fix the shingles, this sort of thing wouldn't happen.

The smoke detector is square. Getting it to roll would be tricky.

Sounds like a situation to set up some CCTV.

It's probably a similar malevolent spirit to the one in my house who has taken to recently stealing and hiding one shoelace from a pair of shoes.

It may well be a poltergeist but my money's on an eight year old who wants to bam up his siblings / parents because he thinks it's funny.

It is very strange. In the Thomas throwing incident, as with this one, we were all together in a different room.

We have a stair fairy in my house. Anything that I put on the bottom step 'to take up later' is magically at the top of the stairs after a few hours despite me walking past it several times on my way up and down the stairs in the interim.

I quite like that. You all announce you have lost something and then the object gets lobbed towards you. Think of the time saved.

I bet that smoke detector needs new batteries too.

I did take the opportunity to check it over whilst it was down.

I bet the light on the smoke alarm is keeping your ghost up at nights.

Put it back up with a little bit of tape round the LED & I bet it doesn't ever happen again. You could also just put it back up again, just to see what happens 🙂

Nice opportunity to meet Yvette Fielding though...

Of all possible explanations, ghosts is one of the least likely imo.

There was a thread on Reddit once with similar goings-on

They set up CCTV and discovered a homeless person had been living in the roof and has been coming down when they were out/asleep/distracted.

Yvette Fielding grew up in the same village as me. She was on the same Travel and Tourism course as my sister at Crewe College. True story folks, true story.

i'm not going to read all the other posts as these things get mocked very easily, and i will say i am on the fence erring to disbelief even though i think i have seen things i canty explain in my house.

but, my wife and her father are firmly in the belief that there are spirits and my father-in-law has done exorcisms and has told spirits to clear off. its definitely made a difference in my house.

if you are being bothered be firm and tell the spirit to leave you alone, it does make a difference.

We think it is funny. There are no "bad vibes" about the place, quite the opposite in fact. The first time we viewed the house back in 2009 both myself and my wife said "Let's buy it" even before we got through the front door.

Things get moved around/stacked up in the hall too, but that may be my son trying to scare his sister.

I can see that college from my desk at this very moment.

Or at least the new building that replaced it.

my father-in-law has done exorcisms

I don't think its unusual for the in-laws to visit and there be no spirits left in the house by the time they leave.

At least one of these statements is incorrect.

You've "offed" Hora?

Its obvious who's haunting your house then...

mentioned this to my wife, she said it just sounds like someone wants you to know they are there and to politely ask them, but firmly, not to bother you.

I'm on the fence too. I've seen a few things that made me wonder, and an ex* had several very strange phenomena in her house. I'm sure there's a whole load of stuff going on we're not aware of because we haven't found ways to interpret signals from it yet.

*although she did come from an 'interesting' family.

Buy some cheap ip cameras - look at clever dog on amazon. They record on movement. You will probably get loads of alerts from moths and such (turn off the leds) but you should also catch rouge fire alarms going for a wander about....

Seeing it recorded might freak you out more though...

Post it here for us all to critique.

Hora has set up a Waco-style religious cult, and is presently stockpiling arms and eating squirrels in a remote farmhouse in the Peak District

on a related note....

If we are to accept that ghosts/supernatural spirits exist, then we have to accept that they also don't play by the normal known rules of science etc. So what makes you think that they can't evade a webcam? eh? maybe that's why there's no credible camera footage of one yet 😉
