Anyone else spent the day saying “Storm Dudley” with a really bad Black Country accent? obviously not read the rest of the thread?

🙂

Keeping an eye on the big Ash tree in the garden as it's looking a bit worse for wear. Definitely picked up here (HD6) in the last hour or so.

We had cancelled todays delivery work in Northern England and Scotland.

I have just cancelled delivery and staff travel for Friday in Midlands and Southern England - Eunice could be rather 'interesting'.

Stay safe folks.

*throws grenade*

I’m looking forward to the wall to wall news coverage as the storms batter the most important parts of the UK over the next couple of days.

*runs off giggling*

(Sorry to all those still affected by previous storms up North, sadly we’ll see the biased news coverage)

In a meeting with Met Office earlier. They are suggesting Eunice will be upgraded to Amber soon enough for our area (Borders) due to combination of wind + snow = drifting

They also said Mondays storm has potential to become a named storm as well but too early to commit to that.

Proper blowing the rain sideways here in Staffs. I'm gonna go for a night hike later and I'll be like lieutenant Dan on top of the fishing boat in the storm.

My boss has had power off in Salisbury for a few hours today -the power company called to check power was back on and suggest that they prepare for widespread power outage for the Weekend.

Candles, batteries and camping stove at the ready. 👊🏽

Edit: the Friday commute home may be 'challenging'. https://www.ventusky.com/?p=53.5;-3.4;5&l=gust&t=20220218/1600

Worktop, Dudley and a berlingo, please Nic post the after photos of that!

Its like we are being teased here. One minute its torrential hail and big breeze, next its sunny and quite pleasant. I suspect Mother nature is waiting until after dark and then she will release the hounds..

Be grateful you don't live in NW Germany - they're going to get both storms over the next few days

Flippin wind in Cardiff and it's going to keep going all week, and get worse. 100mph forecast for West Wales later.

My recycling bin has tipped over and its contents gone up the street again. I know it's mine: dog food trays and tins, oat milk cartons and far too many empty cans of IPA. I've put the damn things horizontal now seeing as bricks on the bins weren't working.

I saw one of those huge garden trampolines take off across a couple of gardens.

Gusty in North London but only enough to blow a hat off. We are getting ours via Eustace on Friday I believe.

Bins get collected tomorrow, I'll tie them down after that.

Llanberis is just depressing in winter

You know this. I know this. MrsIHN will not believe this, so that is where we’re going.

This place will cheer you up. 🙂

Maximum gusts of 77mph here, pretty much when we were out with the dog on the beach 😄

Supposed to be going away in the van tomorrow night and riding at Laggan Wolftrax on Friday……

Flaming windy on the ride home from Manchester. Glad to get away from the buildings as you could hear stuff falling off. Ashton canal was really gusty, so had to watch speed. Peak canal was very tricky with side winds and quite a bit of it is elevated.

Tree debris everywhere.

was a tree down blocking the ambleside to windermere road late afternoon, luckily was cleared quickly so no problem getting home from work.

Well, the wind is certainly finding the draughts were didn't know we had. One big gust just blew the door between the kitchen and living room open 😳

It’s quite rubbish! Was meant to be on a lads MTB trip 3 hours north to Mabie Forest on Saturday! I’ll be surprised if any forests are open on Saturday throughout the country!!

Power off in the neighbouring villages, they've been told not to expect reconnection until tomorrow afty. Commute across the Humber Bridge could be interesting tomorrow morning.

Been over West Wales today dropping loads of road edge diseased ash before the wind got up and caused issues with our felling.

Just as we were packing up, heard the sound of a fairly large tree self destructing in the woods opposite. That can wait for tomorrow was the group decision.

Walked part of the Mawddach estuary earlier and it was blowy with a very high tide, the electric just flickered off for a little bit

Thankfully where our rental cottage is is very sheltered and not in range of any big trees but there are definitely some strong winds out there

That’ll be after we down here in the South-west get them, then. Yellow warning right across my area, possibly upgrading to amber. Bloody windy at the moment.

Well it was a brisk 20 miles pedal home with a tailwind tonight 🙂 Made up for the slog into work this morning. Wind both ends of the day was surprisingly warm.

@houns please only post in your Black Country accent, makes me feel home sick for my childhood if that makes sense. It’s the greatest accent in the UK. Used to be able to tell the difference between Halesowen, Lye and Stourbridge, happy days.

Windy here but it’s often windy. Had a great ride down wind along the beach with no pedaling on fat bike and back via shelter of the woods. The beach felt too short.

Still quite blowy here in Newcastle, but when I refreshed the Met Office forecast, the wind speeds for today have dropped a little compared with what was previously forecast.

No more damage in our garden. I learnt some of the sleepers we bought at the weekend to make raised beds up against the fence on our windward side, so they're pushing it into the wind. It's fairly solid, but was moving quite alarmingly in the bigger gusts, so a bit of extra support seemed a good idea.
