Pile 'o bobbins that
I've just put the first album on, and had a little cry.
I'm hoping I'll wake up tomorrow and it'll have just been a bad dream
It's not great, but, and I should have realised given that I'm reading a music thread on STW, it's nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. ๐
Well, I thought it was pretty decent really. Slightly odd arrangement at the start with the triple chorus repeat thing but after that it definitely held its own. I reckon it'll be a grower and hoping that it'll be part of a decent album. Musically I liked it but the lyrics are a little sing-a-long
Mostly I'm relieved as it is nowhere near as bad I feared it might be.
Binners, you wrote exactly what I was thinking. The Stone Roses years coencided with my formative years. There's a fair chance we may have man hugged during the "briefly cool years".......possibly complimenting, in an inane, utterly off our faces way, on each other's stupidly flared jeans and hilarious haircuts whilst still, in the face of all evidence to the contrary, knowing full well that we were at the epicentre of cool. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.......
Outtake from the lost Seahorses album. Poor.
Quite frankly, owing to a winning combination of family mayhem and catering and bedtime: have managed to avoid it so far. Judging by the thread, I may continue do do so. ๐
It's alright.
Bodgy, listen to it and make your own mind up
It's a mash up of Waterfall meets Dogtanian and the Three Muskahounds
aww, cheers Matt H. Will do. ๐
Be interesting to see how that goes down when I see them at the Ethiad. They're THE band from my yoof so I'll love 'em unconditionally, but they shouldn't have put that out. It wasn't necessary.
Its OK. Its like all music now, over produced. Live it would be great.
It'll grow on me. I'll await the album.
Bobbins. Derivative, lazy. Jo Whiley was gushing all over it and I was thinking "Really?? Come on.."
Spike island was 26 years ago
the last thing isn't any indicator of the next thing, creativity is a cruel mistress
Ripe for a good remix.
The lyrics are ropey, but it has good rhythm & catchy chords.
Hhhmmmm . . . yup; bobbins. I shalln't be cancelling my membership of the 'Ride Appreciation Society' any time soon. Dammit.
And, Munkeyboy, you are so right.
I love the Stone Roses. Radio X have played the new one at least 7 or 8 times tonight. It's absolutely bobbins. I'm sad to say that I didn't have particularly high hopes.
As above. It wasn't necessary.
Shadowcaster ๐ฅ
I Think I need a dose of [url=
to get over the shock.
Its better than every track on the last Charlatans album. Just.
Listening now...
not their finest work and over produced, be interesting to hear it live
Should that have been played on 45, rather than 33 1/3
Should that have been played on 45, rather than 33 1/3
A huge portion of the forum will have no idea what that means!
It was just OK really. Nothing too great, nothing too poor. Never really been interested in them. An old mate dragged me to see them at the Ritz in the mid-80s. They all had flat-top hair styles. That's the only thing I remember about the gig. Says it all really. That's the first time I've chosen to play a track by them...
Aww, that was pretty poor, I'm not even going to bother playing it again. I'll stick with the older stuff and surf the wave of nostalgia. As was said above, why did they feel the need to bring this out?
well....
pub band. (if I'm being generous) Not a great single, someone said it wouldn't have been out of place on one of their albums, but it would've been a track you'd skip over to get to the good stuff.
I love Stone Roses! I'll buy their album or download it online. hihi
For the lazy...
Squires is still a good guitarist
Ian BRown is still the man most in need of auto tune in the known universe.
Lyrics sound like a 17 tear old wrote it when pissed
FWIW I was/am a fan and saw them live back when they were first at it
Brown cannot hold a note. ...actually to be fair he can hold any note as long as its the wrong one.
I will agree that it is musically pretty pleasing, really let down by the cliched lyrics. It isn't any where near as awful as many are trying to make out, but is missing the magic of their past.
That was sh*t. I can see that being used as the soundtrack to Edywn's School Rugby Tour 2016 ,

Thing is, that's what their live crowds want isn't it... you know, the la la la la-nah ner nanana singalonga riff at their gigs.
Ian Brown, clearly from his solo output, can write interesting and different lyrics, so maybe they're just pandering to their audience.
How very dare you!
Actually... the Heaton Park gig was like a great big pub karaoke session for bald fat blokes wearing Adidas Gazelles
^^ Heaton Park was fantastic. And yes it was like a karaoke session for middle-aged men!
As for the single, it is over-produced and lyrically very simple. I do like the fact they have put out an energetic, positive song though. Also even if I could have written the lyrics aged 15, maybe a song about unity is quite powerful when all the ****ers are trying to be divisive to get power.
That was sh*t.
You can write shit but you cannot avoid the swear filter
SO i could not do that for the c word but i can write ****
Sounds like the credits should read Lyrics & music: N.Gallagher
Heaton Park was fantastic. And yes it was like a karaoke session for middle-aged men!
Can't think of anything more fantastic than that ๐
Shit
Oh I see yes you can
Not great but not as bad as I feared it would be was my review.
All for one, one for all...... what rhymes with all.......ball, call, tall, wall.......yeah wall, build a wall, ****ing deep lyrics man!!
That really is poor. I lasted 1 minute and 11 seconds.
Mih, a whole bag of mih.
