Songs for your funeral

I think it was Frankie Boyle who said he'd have 'If you don't know me by now - Harlod Melvin and the Blue notes' and I can't think of anything better than that.

Don't think I'll have a funeral, I won't be there anyway but it seems like a massive waste of money and unless something changes drastically before I croak there would be limited appeal. I have a pretty small circle of friends and a small family, I can see the point for massively popular people, but I'm fine with just being gone.

Should I stay or should I go by The Clash

that's my choice - as log as they agree to pause the conveyor!

If not then "It's getting hot in here" by nelly

I Think I’ll Call It Morning by Gil

That's a great choice.

As an agnostic I’d like Road to Nowhere by Talking Heads.

Was a theme tune to Design and Tech A level as we all hummed it driving Mr Skinner mad.

An old work friend had flight of the valkyries played as he was carried into the church

raised a few smiles, which he would have loved

It's over 5 mins so maybe not as I'd want the full tune and it needs to be played on a good system not the crackly bush crematorium speakers with the burst paper cone that never gets replaced

I went to a friend funeral many years ago where they played some of his favourite songs.

If I die tomorrow, these will be the order of my funeral songs.

1.  Carpenters - Solitaire (Used to pay Solitaire but now I play Tetris)

2.  Carpenters - Goodbye to love (or second choice - Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy)

3.  Metallica - Unforgiven

4.  The Prodigy - Narayan

5.  Europe - Final Countdown

4'33" by John Cage

Nice, I see what you did there! 👌🏻

There’s really only one song that I specifically want played, and that’s ‘Prayer in ‘Open ‘D’ ‘, by Emmylou Harris - it’s an absolutely beautiful song, about loss and regret, sung by one of the best singers of my generation.

Id definitely want my funeral to be a party, so one of the tracks played would have to be “Energy Flash” by Joey Beltram 🥳
