Used the drone this weekend to zip around an indoor roller disco party (daughter's 10th!)..

Was fun flying in a huge gym/basketball court chasing kids on skates!

The protected props of the neo are great..skimmed the wall a few times!

Just need to edit that footage..prob just gonna grab some stills from the vid footage too...

Also just enjoying flying the thing around still...even when not filming!

What do you use to edit the footage from this (and indeed GoPros).  I’m picking my NEO up from Curry’s later so will need to get the ID sorted etc before capturing footage,

I've been using davinci resolve....

It's free, and fairly easy to pick up.

Check a few YouTube videos on the basics.

I haven't even touched the colour correction 'tab' yet... Just the cut, edit, and launch tabs...

It is a limitation of the phone so no precise figure. Somewhere around 30m, maybe 50m.

The big issue is that if you lose signal the drone stays where it is and there is no way to get it back without getting nearer to it and reconnecting. Fine in a field, less fun over the sea

I just had a professional drone survey done of the roofs at work. Haven't seen the results yet, but the machine itself was awesome, a DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise. Had a high accuracy positional device on it, (took off and auto returned home on the roller cover on a Hilux bed, prob just over 1m2) and does 3d imaging.

Although he was flying FPV with the controller which looked very smooth, the drone itself was surprisingly mobile, (to the point of looking uncontrolled) but has a proper gimbal so the images should be rock steady. Didn't even need to fly it himself for the most part, just plotted a course on google maps, and off it went.

Think I want one now!

You need to look at videos of the DJI agricultural drones (eg t40), 50Kg payload for spraying, just enter the field boundary and how much you want to spray, and off it goes. Hot swap batteries mean you can fly all day.

I watched this earlier today. Looks like a drone swarm practice for an event?

Buy the fpv goggles instead of the controller 😉

So in open spaces it can follow quite well, but as the terrain undulates or you turn too sharply it will lose you.

this is on the high, medium distance folow setting yesterday

I like the looking back to see you haven’t lost it 🙂

Can you hear if it loses you, the props change tone or something.

Also, if you have a bright orange helmet or jacket etc, would the follow mode track better. I’m intrigued how it is picking the target out.

I have bought one, not used it yet.

edit. Did it lose you behind that tree right at the end of the clip?

You definitely can hear it.. I think all new users keep looking back initially... Eventually we'll learn!

I think contrasting colours MUST help...but I was wearing reds and browns, and it tracked me through leaves and autumnal scenes perfectly!

Always pair it with your phone, if it loses you and starts hovering over water, boggy ground etc you can still get it back. I also bought one, yet to use it.

todays drone adventure, was at my parents in Dunstable

This was in the high & far follow setting. as the elevation drops and I accelerate it loses me and just hovers about 15m in the air, it found me again when I cycled back and followed but would not go any lower. so i had to tell it to land with the app

Screenshot_20250104-222818

if you look closely you'll see im very near to some power lines which scared me when I realised!

also at the very end I skid crash and land very hard on the ground which is frozen solid (still aching)

still playing with mine, new artwork at the local station is a great opportunity for my daughter to show off her rollerskating

worth noting that the last firmware update increased the tracking speed quite a bit, fastest ive had it following  me is 33kph, and that's improved it on the trail quite a bit , done some fun trail centre rides and it can handle trees and switchbacks much better (see the end of this vid)
