Snowmageddon…. is THAT what the BBC means when it says 20% chance of precipitation then?

😆

I'm supposed to be riding the west half of the South Downs Way Mon/Tues. Guessing the mud has frozen up nicely?

It can stay cold and dry all week from my point of view. But you can stick the snow, please. I have several hundred heavily pregnant ewes enjoying this dry weather outside where it is nice and healthy. If it snows they will need to come indoors which is more work for me (especially if the water freezes) and is not without complications for the sheep from a health point of view. Nah. Bugger off snow. Small mercies. At least the lambs are not due for another 2-3 weeks yet.

Lambs seem much later than when I was a youth.  Did the cold weather a few years back set them all back or am I imagining it?

Depends how old you are Mol 🙂

When I were a lad we lambed later as the winters were always cold and snowy. Since I took on the farm in 2000 the winters were getting warmer and milder so we slowly moved lambing earlier and earlier until we got caught out by that cold one about 4/5 years ago. Lost 60 lambs in that cold snap. So went back to lambing in April again. But no bad weather since means we start this year around the 18th March. Let's hope this cold spell doesn't stick around till then!

Been snowing here for the last 40 mins and starting to settle (but it's incredibly light and flakes are tiny).

According to Carol Kirkwood the big dumps will be top right (that's you drac) and bottom right of the country. So here in the northwest we'll miss out.

Sun is shining now but still snowing and very windy.

pretty snow here (Woking), but nothing-aggeddon yet.

MTB sat in the lockup - I think it's hoping the car gets too scared to drive home later

quite surprising that it's going to snow, this eastern air is so dry it's desiccated everything, so much so theres cracks appearing in the trails !

Given conditions and forecast, clearly the most suitable vehicle to come to work on today was a powerful sportsbike!

Going home tonight might be interesting, Surrey to London.

Cheers, Rich

I'm hoping it doesn't snow too much as I'm booked for Bikepark Wales on Wednesday. Mind you, I remember that on the same date last year it was snowing at the top of the uplift.

A few flakes here in Hampshire which is a shame as earlier it was bright and sunny.  Of course the central heating decided it didn't want to work properly, appears it's an electrical problem now.

Saw a load of new-born lambs yesterday over the Wyre.  Snowgeddon made me fear for them.  Skies still blue today.  Heating on in the morning now though*

*Except for the studio, always seem to work better all year round with no heat and the window cracked open, so not convinced that it's really any type of geddon 🙄

A smattering here in Eastbourne, will be utter carnage on the A27 and A259.  I think the press need shooting, heavy snow, fake news.

Rather more than expected here West of the Peninnes, good 10cm of proper powder snow and still snowing heavily (East Lancs).

Snow in the borders. But this was meant to be a cold weather event as opposed to snow. Press don't know the difference.

Well blow me down, it's actually snowed here in Blackpool! We're normally sheltered from it all here. It'll be chaos on the slight incline at the end of my road.

The forecast has shifted here, so we’re not due to get any till later in the week now. Might stand half a chance of keeping the kids in school yet!

About 10mm up here.

-7 and high winds though so it’s a long way below zero right now.

A massive 1.5 cm has fallen so far and still coming down.

It's that very light (high air content) type of snow, that you can't actually build a snowman with.

The garden looks very pretty and the birds are on a feeding frenzy, fighting to get on the feeders.

We've had about 5-6cm here in West Sussex.

I'd say about 10 centimetres (4 inches) on top of the car this morning (Northumberland).

Little bit hairy getting out of the village, but fine once I was on the main roads.

Might head home at lunchtime if the weather turns bad though.

A light coating locally this morning, beautiful fluffy snow. Perfect for snowballs on the school run.

Dog came back from walk cleaner than he has for months.

light dusting to 1 cm here, make for lovely riding conditions this morning. Seems like they are over egging the wind chill pudding here even at the most exposed open hill tops it wasn't that cold and the wind not particularly bitting.
