but equally there are plenty of good ones flogging their guts out for children who literally could not give a tin shit.

Figuratively, not literally. Unless you're using a definition more commonly associated with snowflakes...

Some context to people not thinking encouraging violence against children is particularly amusing:

Snowflake generation

They have difficulties, just like everyone else. It’s not my fault they have an issue.

Mods, please delete this thread. Getting out of hand

Everyone's been a kid at school, not everyone's been a parent, way less people have been a teacher.

I bet everyone's had at least one shit teacher who seemed to hate children and hate teaching children or even seemed to hate them. Experiences of deeply irrational, unfair treatment with no way of responding are the kind thing that sticks with you for life.

Hardly surprising there's been a bit of backlash to the OP's comments: we are the sum of our experiences, and there's a little bit of everyone who's an aggrieved schoolkid who still wants resolution with *that* teacher..

Not saying that mjsmke is one of those teachers, just that the backlash is understandable.

Hope you find a way through, mjsmke.

How do you help someone who doesn’t want to be helped, when there’s another 29 kids in the class you’re just as obligated to?

I have no idea. Which is why I didn't choose teaching as a career. I'd expect someone who did to be able to answer that question. How do you help them?

Mods, please delete this thread. Getting out of hand.

MODS! PEOPLE DISAGREE WITH ME, MAKE IT STOP!!

Sorry if that makes me a snowflake also…

It does, but I bet you’re not really sorry.

Exactly. My stepdaughter got out of classroom teaching for that very reason. She was pissin against the wind trying to teach a majority when a minority of snowflakes didn’t want to be taught.
The snowflakes are out in force tonight!

Generally it's by putting more time in, and enlisting the help and support of the parents if you can. But when you have to also prep work for the sizeable percentage of children off with covid, plus cover the sizeable number of staff that are off with covid without being able to call on supply teachers because they're covering people off with covid or off with covid themselves, and the percentage of children who literally couldn't give a tin shit (TM Pondo) goes from being small but manageable to out of control (because their lives have been utterly uprooted, no doubt, and EVERYTHING is different now), and there is no cavalry coming, you're just going to have to plough through this shit for evermore, well... I just think sometimes people just have to vent.

Mrs Pondo is, I think, a good, hard-working and concientious teacher, and she is absolutely at breaking point. I can't tell you how angry that makes me.

In a customer facing role dealing with public daily. Adults and kids and everything in between for last 14 years now I’m still pleasantly surprised how many youngsters are well mannered yet some older/elderly folks are absolutely brutal to deal with 🤷‍♂️
