[Closed] Smoking Law - Private Club House Legal or Not

I'm a member of club who has a Club House/Hut. The only people who use it are club members. We have no members of public entering or using it or employees.

Basically is it legal for smoking to be allowed ? Or are clubs exempt ?

Thoughts or links to law sites who know.

Thanks.

No.

Just a cabin in private woodland. The members of club pay an annual fee.

For refuge from the cold when shooting or to store possessions during a shoot.

I doubt it's illegal then. (disclaimer I am not a lawyer)

Wouldn't know whether or not its illegal. But if everyone is in agreement do what you like. Who would enforce it?

I looked it up via Wiki

On 14 February 2006, the House of Commons first voted on the amendment to the original compromise plan, to extend the ban to all enclosed public places except private members' clubs. The amendment was carried with a large majority. MPs then voted on a further amendment to ban smoking in all enclosed public places including private members' clubs. Again this amendment gained significant support and was carried with a large majority. This therefore replaced the earlier successful amendment which would have allowed smoking only in private members' clubs. The legislation was passed by the House of Lords, allowing a total smoking ban in enclosed public places to come into force in England.

So it's a shed?
No reason not to smoke in a shed.
You're a club member. Is there a please don't smoke in the shed disclaimer in the membership pack?
If not no law is being broken.

EDIT: I might be wrong (I normally am)

I'd live in that 'shed'.

Hmmm, tricky. I think that sometimes you have to bite your tongue. It may well be that you'll be asked if you object before they light up. Any reason why they can't sit on a chair outside?

Very nice 'shed'. Is it going spare?
