The homeowner, in her 60s, found him wedged on the windowsill 15ft (3m) up in the air after returning from a trip to the shops.
At least he had the decency to the the shopping in first.
He had pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal

Is there any other kind?
Yep (you can add this to your "I didn't know that" thread): (1) to cause GBH and (2) damage the building.
Should have left him there for a bit before calling the cops. Like some kind of tragicomic art installation.
Is there any other kind?
There's also the kind where mysterious unknown assailants enter your home and scatter your childrens belongings, especially toys and trainers, all over the place.
They also sometimes eats crisps and sweets and hide the wrappers behind furniture and under beds.
as above 'burglary' is the entry bit - the offence has to specify why.
There was a fascinating program on Radio about how law on burglary and theft evolved on Radio last week. Amazing how important it used to be for people to secure their homes in order for theft to be committed.

Right. I thought burglary was specifically "on the rob, innit" otherwise it was breaking & entering or some such. Cheers.
I know him! š
Couldn't happen to a nicer little turd.
Should have invited the local kids round and gave them a big stick, tell them its a PiƱata.
I loved that the BBC reported "<he> hurt his ear in the raid".
But will he try to sue for his hurt ear ?? š
I'd have been tempted to knock his legs off the window sill & do us all a favour. Thriving s scumbag.
I'd have wee'd in his boots while he was stuck there...
Starting from his head.
Help him down with a few punches to the nose.
Thriving s scumbag.
Probably been" thriving"a bit too much if he got stuck in the window.
I reckon his "thriving"days are over for a while now
Full marks to the journalist for using 'botched' rather than 'bodged'.
Is there any other kind?
GBH
Rape
Steal
The latter is far more common as you might imagine...
It' gets even more complicated.
Burglary: Any person who enters a building or any part of a building with the intention of
Stealing anything
Damaging any thing
Raping any person
Committing grievous bodily harm
is guilty of burglary
Or
Any person who, having entered as a trespasser any building or part of a building
Steals any thing or
Inflicts grievous bodily harm on any person therein
91a vs 91b, for anyone still interested...
Rape was removed a few years ago. 9 1(a) is steal, damage, GBH, 9 1(b) is steal & GBH.
(Currently studying for Sgts exam and wishing it was all over)
Good work Clipper - I think I knew that once but had forgotten.
(Currently sitting behind a charge desk - keep buggering on, it'll be worth it. Although if your Farce is anything like mine, the exam is the easy bit...)
