Speccing up a new bathroom at the moment and need to increase the pressure to our shower - we live in a bungalow with a hot water tank system, so the pressure isn't great.
Aqualisa do 3 pumps, 1.2, 2.5 and 3.5 bar - not sure which would be most appropriate. No point in getting a mega powerful pump if we don't need it.
Will the 1.2 bar pump give enough to make a noticeable difference, or should I be looking for a 2.5?
I guess it depends what your current pressure is like to know if it will make enough of a difference. I have a 1.5 bar pump and perfectly happy, think a 3.5 might be like being shotblasted.
Remember too the higher the pressure the quicker your tanks will empty.
We have a similar problem with our upstairs showers so we fitted the very smallest shower pump and it's perfectly adequate; enough to give you a good soaking but not enough to empty the cylinder (except when my teenage son gets in it and runs it to cold!)
Note that there's no point in fitting an expensive shower pump if you don't also fit a decent capacity rose, a small head on a flexy tube will not do it justice.
Might be worth pricing up an Aqalisa Quartz - I've put a couple in - simple install, quiet in operation and a great shower. Good warranty support as well!
What's the difference with the Quartz @jerseychaz? I was looking at the Aqualisa Aspire (concealed mixer) along with their 1.2 bar pump. There's not a huge amount of information on the Aqualisa site.
We use 1.5 bar one and it more than enough.
We ended up getting a 10.5kw electric shower - the pressure and flow are more than enough and it means we don't have to have a tank of hot water available each morning so probably doesn't cost any more to run than hot water tank+pump.
10.5kw are out - would need new board, lots of new wiring etc. Best we could get would be a 8.5kw, and would probably get a similar flow to what we have now.
prezet - the Quartz is a packaged pump and mixer - which can be remote from the bath/shower as the feed out to the shower is a single 15mm pipe. The controls are via a low voltage cable and rotary control. However, you need to get the infrastructure in before tiling or have access behind the wall!
I've got a 3. Bar pump. It's great but a bit of overkill. I'd go for 2 or 2.5 if I was doing it again.
