At work so don't have access to my gear to take pics but I have two mid seventies through neck solid body basses that I use al the time.
One a Washburn with double cutaway and mahogany body
the other a Vox with a massive headstock.
Both with split coils and jazz with dual controls and three way toggle switch.

I run twin sets of pedals through two channels with two distortions and octave pedal and a chorus on one line and a phaser, a flanger and a delay on the other, both cannels run into a headrush pedal, I’ve a custom channel switcher to choose which channel or both or a little of one or the other.

Also have a whole cupboard of other vintage or unused FX pedals like big muffs and other phasers etc.

Have contributed white noise and effects etc to films and even got in the running for the mercury awards in the early 00s. My musical coutnter part in the early 00s band is in Rocksound a fair bit these days as he started a label to put our album out and then signed other bands and ended up moving to the US as it got so succsfull- we're still mates though.

Roter 😯 😯 😯

You can never have enough Marshall's, but you're working on it, right? 😉

Here's my old rig before I moved to France...
[img] [/img]

Sold both!
I now have an Explorer, and a Marshall MG15 CDR. Here's the guitar....
[img] [/img]

BTW - I'm not into Heavy/Death/Thrash/Sex/Metal! V's and Explorers are much more versatile than that.

No pics right now. But I have a mexican 60s tele in Olympic White, a classic player 60s strat in electric blue and a Taylor 350 acoustic (I think that's the modal anyway).

Just using a line 6 pod right now- but planning on getting a fender deluxe reverb reissue amp very soon. Oh and maybe an orange tiny terror too!

Acoustics? I played a £3k nylon string acoustic 2 days ago in that there London.

Its the only guitar that quite openly told me how crap I am 😀

Plum

Strato - That Marshall/V setup was very nice - Schenker influence?

@Plum - No Schenker influence, I just like Gibsons. Vee's have a great clean sound too. 😉

@lodious - Thanks.... Just remind me again why I sold it! AAArrrrggghhhh
The head was a JMP 50 watter. I bought it in the 70s, it was well used and battered then, but sounded fabulous. In the early 90s Mrs Stratobiker had it refurbished by Marshall for me as a present. It was safer. Anyways, I put it on ebay to sell it. It was like a frenzy with anoraks/people asking me for photos of the inside from various angles. I really wanted it to go to someone who would use it. In the end it went to a guy from East Anglia who drove up to the Midlands to collect it. He was really nice, I got phone calls from him weeks after telling me how pleased he was with it.

I should never have sold that guitar either. I tried to buy it back, but no joy. 🙁

GUYS - I notice there's been a lot of guitar posts recently. Remember the STW bloooz jam thing we did? Are we ready for another do you think?

SB 🙂

OK plum, I thought you would be. 🙂

guitarhero, A really good blues backing would be great. Are you offering to run the jam as well? 😉 That's cool by me. I'd like to hear what you have.

Also, let me run a couple of ideas past you....
The first one is to do a riff-fest. So there'd be a backing track with drums and a sparce bass. The idea being that the players have to come up with a 16bar riff/rhythm and we just but them together.

Idea two is to use a backing with just two chords that go back and forth, a vamp, and the players have to come up with some lead. Why? Because I was thinking it would be less daunting for the beginner (the one who had a Christmas guitar for example), but no less challenging for the more advanced player. If you two chords were root 5th power chords that would give loads of harmonic opportunity.

Thoughts?

SB 🙂

I'm up for anything although my stuff won't arrive back form canada for a good while yet.

In the meantime I have bought myself a £50 nylon acoustic that I'm happy to use on this project.

I could do the chord bit at least say E A or G C - What BPM?

Plum,
Nylon acoustic eh? Great.
I was thinking B and A, four bars each, at around 120bpm.

Is it a daft idea? I suffer with those! 😆

Ooh go on then!

Here's my current collection - minus my old bass, which a friend is borrowing, but the Spector bass and Fender amp are for sale 🙁

Fender Tele

Ash bodied, maple necked Tele - quite an unusual one made in Korea with Seymour Duncan pickups. It plays beautifully and has a more mellow tone than classic teles - I really like it!

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Martin 000c16 GTE

Lovely little guitar with Fishman prefix premium blend pickup with gooseneck mic, rather than the aura modelling stuff. Lovely tone and sounds incredibly transparent amplified.

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Garrison Acoustic

Okay so it's my husbands, but I play it more - its a fairly rare, Canadian made (pre-Gibson) custom shop acoustic. Their techniques are really weird - glass fibre bracing or something but the tone is amazing! Beautiful flamed top too:

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Spector ReBop Bass (for sale)

Stunning bass and the best sounding I think I've heard:

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Fender Blues Junior Amp (also for sale)

Pure valve amp, kind of retro looking - amazing tone!

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

[img] [/img]

Yep, I know, I'm a very lucky girl!

Honestly think a simple I,IV,V blues backing in E would be nice and easy for everyone. Happy to knock one up. Think B and A repeatedly sounds a bit dull.

OK guitarhero, you've convinced me!

Blues in E it is.
It was minor last time, so how about a major one?
Go ahead and knock one up.

SB

@MountainMonkey - why are you selling that amp, I'd have thought it just right for that lovely Tele.

LOL Plum, that's more or less exactly what I had in mind.....

I was thinking that you could treat A and B as a IV and V of E, or as a I & II of A, and so on.........

Nice guitar BTW.

SB

EDIT -> Will muddybum the Sax player be OK in E?

just knocked this up before reading your major suggestion. Still pretty rough anyway, could easily change key. What you think?

Stratobiker - aye, it is perfect for the Tele, but with the baby on the way I won't have time to play it (certainly not gig it), so I'm going to sell it now and then will by a new one (probably exactly the same!) when the baby's bigger and I have time again... Could just do with freeing up some cash, so I'm selling all sorts to avoid turning to my Orange Five!

OK a couple of quick shots with a rather Fendery theme and I seemed to have mainly picked the Strats in my haste...

[img] [/img]
Starting with the PRS McCartys though. The gold top's just been swapped for another Jap Strat (pink this time) and an Epiphone jazzbox, but the Tortoise one is still around. I also have a black Soapbar one with a full rosewood neck. Lushness.

[img] [/img]
A (as far as I can tell) 'replica' SRV strat. I'm not convinced it's a Fender (despite being 100% accurate and coming in a Fender blonde tolex artist case. The blue one is definitely a fake, but is ace...

[img] [/img]
Newly assembled pedalboard. Is it greedy to have two loopers?

[img] [/img]
Japanese '90s Strat.

[img] [/img]
Schecter body, Japanese other bits. Tele bought from the Classifieds...

Chipps, why have you got two loopers?

A dull, rather than hugely musical reason I'm afraid... The Akai is borrowed (and helped persuade me that loopers are fun) and I've stuck it in for the moment as it has tap-tempo, which my regular delay doesn't.
