[#1963438]

We are thinking of buying a camper or converting a van to a camper to tour around Europe. Interested in seeing photo's of what layouts people have got and how you store your bikes.

Just changed ours this summer:
[img] [/img]

This one has quite a decent sized garage for the bikes:

We've only been to France so far with this one but the previous one was taken as far north as Norway and Sweden and as far south as Italy. It got a bit too hot inside when we took it south so we got aircon fitted to this one which was great.

Thanks guys.

Epicsteve, that's a nice one, I like the garage.

We are thinking about a T4/5 or Transporter. Mog, do you just lock your bikes to the rack overnight then? We were wondering about storing bikes under the bed. How reliable are the VW's?

After crawling out the hatch of my Golf for the second morning yesterday I've now taken an interest in getting a VW Van again. Try to think who was telling me about your self conversion yesterday, never mind it's a bloody cracking job. I tried to persuade the Mrs to let me buy your last one when you had it on the classifieds.

+1

Ideally I want to base something on a T4/T5, but keep the bikes inside

I was about to post that'll be a T5 if you getting an early 2011 Transpoter, luckily I realised my mistake so now no one need ever know and I won't be embarrassed.

Caravan all the way for us. I'm sure you don't want to see a picture 🙂

My neighbour has a caravan and loves it however given storage and the fact that I would have to change my car to pull anything means its not a cheap option.
I hope to use the van for other duties which makes it more cost effective for me.

Sweepy, where's that campsite. I'm sure that looks familiar. Somewhere in the NW of Scotland?

I considered starting a caravan thread after the weekend's window shopping, but I didn't think anyone would reply.

Not always. My previous one also had a garage but was only £25K new and could be had for perhaps £16K 2nd hand now.

Prices have gone up quite a bit in the last 4 years so the new one was £39K. They don't tend to depreciate that much though.
