A couple of years ago I bought a bike that was delivered in a big cardboard box. All I had to do was attach the handlebars and the front wheel. Since then the box has been sitting in my garage, but I'm thinking if I should get rid of it to make space for other garage-type stuff - BBQ waiting for a sunny weekend etc.
Why might I need the box? All I can think of is if I sell the bike and need to post it. Any other reason? And if I take it to the tip, how easily could I get a replacement if I suddenly needed one?

Flatten the box, fold it in half and stash it for future. Easy enough to reassemble.
You might find the actual dimensions are too large for most couriers though. Bike shops etc must have special arrangements with couriers to be able to send huge boxes.

There are millions of cats out there who can't afford a decent sized box. Donate it to one of them.
Why might I need the box?
I know a lad who's been using the cardboard box his bike was delivered in for riding holidays. The same box has been to Whistler several times, Madeira twice and Southern Spain twice. While it's a bit awkward to move through an airport it's a fair bit lighter than the Evoc bike bag I've got and will fit the same, possibly more, than mine
Useful for keeping weeds down in the garden, or keeping a raised bed weed free over winter.
