anybody had any experience of this?
my mum wants to sell on my dad's old plate, it's been on retention for about 5 years now and she's ready to let it go.
I don't really know where to start except for the many online companies that only seem to advertise them and take commission. are there any companies that will just buy it?
it's a fairly nice reg, 3 letters then 2 numbers.
eBay, or look in some of the various car sales papers, like Autotrader, or in the back of car mags, perhaps.
YGM
Don't you mean YGM 77?
not received anything yet Michael
I sold one that came on a car I bought.
I put it on eBay with a starting price to cover the costs of the transfer etc. which was IIRC £147 ish.
I also sent out some "advertising" mail by post to companies and names from google/yellow pages/ 192.com that I thought might be interested.
I had a few watchers but only the one bidder so didnt make any money on it. But he was happy he had got a present for his wife, I was happy to get shot of it and get a generic number for no cost to me.
I used National Numbers a while back and got about 3 times the expected amount 🙂 And they did all the paperwork for nowt.
Sold mine to fund a new bike two years ago. Elite wanted £80 commission on a sale happening, advertised at £250. Went through a specialist auction after them advertising it for over a year and got over £1k after commission 😆 Will dig out who I used.
Depending on the reg it can be worth a few quid.
EDIT: Used the National Numbers like spacemonkey said. Will be doing the same for my dad's reg when he gives up driving - possibly this summer!
Should have by now, assuming the email in your profile is correct?
online valuations reckon anything between 1500-3600!
Hmmm I have one too, National numbers have just valued it at 850 might be worth a punt
