I appear to have half the salt content* of the Atlantic deposited on my windows!
*OK, it might not be salt

How excited did you get last night?

I'm the first house the wind hits as it batters up Loch Linnhe. Upshot no sleep last night, listening to my roof falling apart. Lost 5 ridge tiles, that have smashed three other flat tiles on there way down. Found a bit of caravan in the front garden which is odd. Also three flattened Tennents tins of some vintage appeared on the lawn; I must live in Scotland ๐Ÿ˜‰

Unstressed about the roof as I rent and expect the landlord will fix pronto......

Still managed a scoot in Nevis Range before the storm proper hit. Was hard cycling at times!

Definitely more slates aff than taps aff in Fort William(work) last night blowing a hoolie at times.Kinlochleven(home) seems pretty much untouched although the radio signal has gone.

Riding the tandem home from work last night was slightly hairy at times- the route is primarily NE and unlit. No idea what speed we were managing, but spent some time spinning out on flat roads at the top of 48x11. I enjoyed the experience... Not so sure about the stoker!

Not that bad in Glasgow, we've had worse. Leaving the bike at home today was the right decision though.

Saw a guy on the moor this morning who's been riding every day this week, never seen him before so must be his new years resolution to do every day.

On my route through town I pass some side road and the side winds can push you right into the traffic.

He'll soon learn and this mornings battle should have curbed his enthusiasm ๐Ÿ™‚

Didn't sleep much last night as the wind was roaring around the house, we're about halfway up a hill so goodness knows what it was like for the more exposed houses at the top! A nice conifer in our garden snapped through the trunk at the base which is a real shame as it was a nice tree ๐Ÿ™

On the drive into Fort william this morning for work there were less trees down than I expected, although there was carnage in Glenfinnan apparently.

What is the expectation for tonight? BBC are predicting a return of similar strength

We are in a lovely sheltered spot no, compared to Killin, and it still felt like a train going past the window all night.

I'm attempting to fly to London, never mind Scotland, and it's windy enough to delay the flight by an hour via some mechanism called slots. I was eating free food and left free coffee and free cakes in my hurry to go nowhere.. grrr... #fwp

There was definitely salt spray in glasgow. The flat windows are manky and the car windscreen was all smeary with dried salt.

Meanwhile in Fort William I'm lying in bed watching water marks grow on the ceiling.

Upside of rented accommodation I don't really care, downside occurs if any of my property gets wet.

'Twas breezy here too. Some elves redistributed bikes all over my back yard in the night.

Cancelled my riding plans because of the weather forecast. Not actually that windy now. Off to the pentlands I reckon for a mudpack and a swim

I've just seen a tree that would feed my stove for a couple of winters down by the side of the road in West Lothian. Stopped and filled up the 4x4, I'll be back later to pillage more.

This is only happening because the new car doesn't have winter tyres.

Rail network a bit closed and A9 shut as well -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-30803524

However this is concerning -
"Driver Jamie Duncan and a friend spent the night parked in a lay-by just outside Blair Atholl after getting stuck at 21:30.

He was trying to get back to Inverness to celebrate his 20th birthday.

Jamie Duncan: "I haven't had any food all night. I've got water from my windscreen washer but we haven't used that.""

At least he won't freeze.. or is it just water?? eek!

Out for a ride this morning on the outskirts of glasgow, kinda breezy, bit of localised flooding.

headwind added 10 mins onto my normal 1 hour ride. most annoyed, had to put an extra sugar in my tea to cope.

There's a guy who lives in his car / tent at the side of the A9 near Blair Atholl. I wonder how he is fairing?

I've always wondered who that dude in the layby is!

I also wonder why people choose to drive up the A9 when snow and gales have been forecast for ages beforehand.
