Won the World Series last night, great series against the Royals. Been a good season as my Orioles won a penant and the scum from New York were nowhere ๐Ÿ˜†

I just wish they showed highlights at a reasonable time here in the UK.

Oh here we go ๐Ÿ˜† nobody was pitching at 100mph in rounders, to see it live is amazing you dont even see the ball, watching a home run sail out of the ground is brilliant 450ft is a distance to hit a ball. Not to everyones tastes but I love Baseball/rounders ๐Ÿ˜†

Hey Pigface, I was always backstop in middle school and my mate Jason used to bowl so fast most of the time the ball came straight to me, I pinged it to first base and BOOM! out. Must have been slinging that tennis ball at least 90-95 mph on a good day.

We was orsumz 35 years ago

Never really got baseball. Looks like cricket with all the excitement removed. But, each to their own I suppose.

Ps: I'm an Orioles fan too

They named a team after part of a nipple?

I have to say after 7 years of working for a US company, 3 years living in NY and countless hours watching basketball and both college and pro-football I never got into baseball at all. The World Series is always interesting but the league goes on for ever with an interminable number of games.

As aside my login name comes from road trips to New Orleans to watch the Saints

Was in SF last weekend great atmosphere in the city, Saturday night better than Friday nigh for obvious reasons. Watched the games at a friends who tried to explain all that was going on, apart from trying to hit the ball and run around I couldn't follow.

spence good job very lucky being right place at right time. Baseball is so stats heavy it is a geeks paradise.

@spence - do you follow cricket ? baseball is quite technical with different pitch types, the "count" and how the bases are loaded. Then you have the stats angle for how the pitcher and batter do in those situations. It's all that stuff which the afficiandos love. It was all lost on me.

Dont forget how they work the bull pen it is a very technical sport and very one on one with pitchers and batsmen.

I never really got it until I read Money Ball. Then it all made a bit more sense.

I saw the Giants play last year and it is a seriously impressive spectacle, just being there and seeing the size of the place is something else.

By coincidence really, the place was packed with fans both going to the game and local bars, my hotel was on 2nd just a couple of blocks from AT&T park. Friday I took a rental from the Bike Hut on pier 40 and it was a fight to get it back through the crowds down there.

I've got Baseball for Dummies, really should have read it beforehand; RBI, IP, ERA, MVP, Bullpen??????

I saw Colorado Rockies about a month ago and as you say the size of a ball park is very impressive. Rockies ball park in downtown in Denver which is great for crowds and atmosphere, Rockies are truly dreadful and still getting crowds of 30,000 full it is about 70,000.

I've been to 2 MLB games, Yankee Stadium and Giants Stdium and never seen a home scored. Highlight of SF Giants stadium is the garlic fries, the best food I have ever had at a sports event.

It's not a world series if it's just played in one country!

Been to see the Rockies play many times, great stadium, great backdrop, shame they're so crap.

It's not a world series if it's just played in one country!

A common misconception, it's named after the original sponsor of the series, the New York World newspaper. Strictly it should be the "World's series" not the "World series".

Well, they were the local team when I lived in D.C.

I had a great time I went to Camden Yards. The great Cal Ripken Jr was playing.

Another common misconception. There's no evidence that the New York World ever sponsored the series.

Well done Giants, 3 in 5 years, suck it up Yankees. I went to see the Giants a couple of times when they still played at Candlestick Park so have been following them from a distance ever since. I finally managed to get BT Sport yesterday after signing up to Infinity, not sure if this was a good thing as I ended up staying up to watch the game until 3:30.

I never got baseball until we were in SF last summer and went to a game.
Made sure I read up on all the rules and got hooked as it was exciting at times. Have since watched a few games ont' interwebnet and still enjoy it.

Can't beat going to a live game of anything for it to get you involved and excited
