Rennie has been approached for the all blacks job apparently. I find that a bit indigestible. 😊

Any chance we could leave the playground insults out, chaps?

One or two of the injuries helped. There was some of the starting 15 from earlier games who I wouldn't have started with.
I do think the choice of Galtand's starting 15 stymied the attack. Not going into too much detail, but we need to be much more than crash ball in the centre, support from flankers, crash ball again. The players are there, there are wingers who can beat players and centres who can create space - we just didn't really play as much heads up rugby as we can.
I do like Biggar, but can see why others find issue with him. Patchell does look a promising replacement. We do need to look at full back and centre positions though, ensuring we have the players in those positions who are able to play the type of rugby the team is playing.

I’d be much happier as a welsh fan than an Irish or Scottish one. 3 points away from a final spot is gut wrenching but certainly not a disastrous campaign.

That’s not news! 😂

The weird thing is why the best player in the world was left out vs England.

I know. No idea what Hansen was thinking last week. Smith is amazeballs.

Given that Wales were a bit patched up, that largely went surely as most expected? Seemed a game too far.

I'm struggling to see significant forward progress for Glasgow under him compared to Glasgow under Toonie. I'm not sure why he's so in demand.

Wingers yes, but who are these centres? Parkes and Davies cant pass, Watkin neither, Scot Williams is slightly better but he has lost all his speed now, cant really think of any other options. Owen Williams was looked at but was injured, Halaholo is now Welsh so might be worth looking at. Gatland saw the issue with Biggar hence Anscombe but he got broke and Patchel hardly played all last season.

We do need to look at full back

Liam is pretty handy and with Anscombe at 10 we could have looked at Patchel at 15, he's done well there before. McNicol could be an option too, as he is Welsh soon I think.

Pivac has some work to do.

AA it was me who accused you of talking bobbins 😂 this time I agree, I think Gatland and his team have done really well with what at first was a very limited pool of players, we do have more depth now.not a huge amount but the only way was up.

Thanks Gats you and the team have given me some great days in the last couple of years.

Because of his achievements in Super Rugby, apparently. Not saying I think he's the best choice, but the NZ bosses will have seen how he operates and must have been impressed if the rumours are true.

Whilst I might not find Gatland’s approach to rugby particularly pretty no one can question his results with wales whilst he’s been in charge. The pool of players is pretty small but they’ve eclipsed England in those 12 years in terms of 6N wins etc.

Well, due to storm force winds in the Solent, my sailing course is delayed a day, meaning I get to watch the final tomorrow 👍

My son has England in the family sweepstake whereas I have SA. That would definitely be a hollow victory, but the winner gets a month of no dish washing.....

Whatever the result tomorrow Japan do seem to have hosted a wonderful event.
I spent a lot of time in Japan over the last 15 years and have a great affinity for the country.

Apologies one and all. The word ‘insufferable’ would never have been uttered in my school’s playground.

they’ve eclipsed England

And Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy.  No need to pick on us, pay heed to Headmaster CFH.

Gwlad forum is suggesting 1/2p will be retiring, sad if true, top quality player.

Absolutely, but if he is continually getting concussed it is for the best. The older of us will recall that is what caused Billy Beaumont to retire.

Look again - it's inside the half - not the 22.

He could probably kick 70m on the high veldt but not at sea level.

Right, as a Scotsman...C’mon England. With the condition attached that Farrell tries one of his running in and shoving forwards episodes and is in all the pics with missing front teeth. (Can you at least allow me that?) Folk are suggesting it will be a dull game, but I think there are so many interesting sub plots it will be anything but.

I'm up and off to fetch some mates. Even my dad is coming round to watch the game up in my man pub/cave/shed. Good luck England!

These are the two traditionally dullest sides in the world. Credit to England, the SF against NZ was superb, but this is the WC final so I'm expecting a borefest. Hope I'm wrong, would love to see England play like they did last week, but I have a feeling SA will kill any attempt at anything exciting.

And Wales are traditionally an exciting side.....

England will not want to be drawn into an arm wrestle.

Wales have a tradition of never making it to WC finals. SA have a tradition of getting there by playing really boring rugby. England are just plain boring most of the time. Not sure what went wrong last week, maybe alien abduction or something.

It’s not about excitement
It’s not about a try fest
It’s about doing whatever it takes to win, even if it’s a drop goal to win 3-0

I’ll take a boring game with no tries if it means England win

Folk are suggesting it will be a dull game

SA might try to win by slowing the game down and kicking a few long range penalties, but when was the last time you saw England play boring rugby? It’s not been their style for a long time! England either win with flair, or lose trying to play with flair but make too many mistakes. When it pays off they’re the best team in the world, when it doesn’t they let Scotland score 20 odd unmatched points!

This is arguably the best England side that there has been when they’re on form, and to say they have been on form so far this RWC is an understatement! I just hope there’s one more game in this run of form, because it would be bloody awful if it ended right now!

My prediction is England victory inside normal time by 6-10 points. It’ll be closer than Aus and NZ games, but I predict an early Tuilagi try, and you can bet your bottom dollar that whether he needs to or not, Owen Farrell will have a pop at a drop goal at some point!

Houns knows.....

Super excited now !

As an aside , has anyone got an idea as to  which team the Japs will cheer on ?

At least 50% of the stadium crowd will be home fans , and having that support will defo lift the side being cheered....

England seem to score a fair few tries these days...didn’t realise that was classed as boring! 😂

Bacon sarnie scoffed, child banished...bring it on.

Lee Calvert doing the Guardian text updates.

South Africa’s anthem is in three languages and speaks of their love of their land and people. England’s is about a rich woman. SA win that round.
