Great win for Uruguay but 4 day turnaround for Fiji has done them, dont have the depth to make changes. Wonder if Gatland will still send out Wales B to play them, gives a short turnaround into quarters for any welsh play who plays v Uruguay.

Same for Russia I think (or maybe they are actually shit) but its a shame for them that with a short turnaround they have lost both games. Is there a better way than 4 days?

Russia played really well but were out on their feet in the second half. I never thought I say it about a Russian side but a real shame to have lost given how hard they were working and well disciplined and organised they were yesterday. Seemed to enjoy themselves!

Fiji looked absolutely dead on their legs too but all credit to Uruguay for a cracking match. The scheduling may not be ideal but as a neutral is was a very entertaining match to wake up to (minus having to listen to Miles Harrison)

Three weeks off for Reece Hodge after that shocker of a 'tackle' against Fiji. Misses remaining pool games.

Really enjoyed the game this morning. Feel a bit for Fiji who looked nailed after giving their all against Australia at the weekend. Fair play to Uruguay hough.

Hodge scoring that second try when he should have been off the pitch must really sting now.

Being at work when the rugby is on is very distracting, despite not being able to watch. They should just send me home. Looks like Italy are doing well, one can only wonder how poor Canada are.

High tackle from england 12... how are they missed?

It was borderline, but not exactly a dangerous tackle compared to a lot of what we’ve seen.

It’s apparently ridiculously hot & humid in there.

I’m looking forward to see McConnochie getting some ball in hand.

Why was it any different to the USA one? Both front on , head on head contact.

If you are determined to just point out any potential England foul play with your welsh blinkers on, I’m out of here.

Just had time to see kick off then switched off.

Our pack are doing the work today. Joseph has looked lively, Francis looked slow before being replaced by Farrell.

Fair enough AA.

There was an interesting half time discussion over them both. Ben Kay talking about how players trying to ensure they wrap their arms is leading to them standing more upright, leading to head on head contact.

Put that down as a typical England performance. Immense in parts, but infuriatingly inaccurate at times. Big win on a 4 day turnround, move on.

Well, you can forget the Francis tackle……

Until the citing, maybe.

That American "tackle" though. Oof. Redder than a very red thing. Irony of it being on ShoulderBoy not lost, either.

Glad the officials finally got one right.

Also, very impressed with the way the game was stopped for that late injury. Player welfare matters.

I tell you what though, after watching a modern union RWC, then watch a Big League international. It’s actually quite shocking!

Very footballer-like from Farrell after the deservedly red card tackle. Hits the floor, feigned injury for two seconds before springing to his feet for a bit of biff.

I think you are being unfair, Farrell only has two braincells so he tends to recover from shit like that very quickly. It' will not make any difference to his mental acuity.

So is Francis in trouble I saw it briefly on computer, looked high a replay appeared to show it was then I had to leave. How was it not reviewed. Was his the one from the kick off cause that looked high too or was he the second one?

Sorry Englandshire fans, but Faz getting emptied was more than a little karmic. Also a bit crocodile Dundee..."that's not a no arms tackle; THIS is a no arms tackle."

duckman, we have no bad feelings about it, **** him as much as you like, he won't notice and the oppsn will get penalised. Happy days all round.

Think Francis will be cited and to be honest I(hopefully) did not see him having much more involvement anyway. I see ford/Farrell as 10/12 for rest of the games now. Decent performance bar some of the handling.

I dunno the rules but when Francis goes into the tackle, he drops his head and aims for the blokes chest. The problem is the bloke ducked too. So whilst by the rules perhaps it is foul play I think they will be lenient, his intent was probably not so bad.
I like any rule that will support player safety, so if he gets banned, so be it. If we lose the world cup because we didn't have Francis, then we probably shouldn't be competing.
I too thought he was a bit crap too, he mucked his chances up in the game. I didn't think the Scottish winger was that great either. He missed a few chances by not being able to finish.

I'm glad the USA scored

Firstly because it'll be good for their home market, they hate no scores. But secondly, wasn't that a bit of a pee take !?! ... Up 45-0 and you don't kick the ball into touch to end the game ?

Missed the game today on purpose... The weather window was looking good this morning for a ride so I thought I’d catch the game (and ensure I avoid the score) when I get home via the itv hub. Well just loaded the hub, managed to find the RWC section on it (silly me for thinking the RWC would be front and centre) only to find the Eng v USA game not on there. What a pile of ****. And to top it off there was no way I could google a replay of the game without finding the score.

So, to sum up, if you’re relying on the itv hub to catch a game a few hours after it’s finished don’t bother

Going for 50 pts? Bit of last minute pressure play practice?

There was nothing wrong with the tackle on Farrell. He's been doing stuff like that for years and never even gets penalised. He even had the nerve to complain about it.

Exactly what he deserved. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Farrell is a dirty player and deliberately goes out to injure players. He has got away with it far too much.

To be fair to Farrel, I do quite like him when I've seen him interviewed he says it like it is and I warm to him. He seems like a bit of an honest ****, every team has one. At least he doesnt go on tv and sulk when england lose like the pound shop mitchel did. He'll say we were beaten, we need to improve, well done opposition etc.

I quite like him at times!

Wales: L Williams; North, Jonathan Davies, Parkes, Adams; Biggar, G Davies; Wyn Jones, Owens, Francis, Ball, Alun Wyn Jones (C), Wainwright, Tipuric, Navidi.

Replacements: Smith, Dee, Lewis, Shingler, Moriarty, T Williams, Patchell, Watkin.

Australia: Haylett-Petty; Ashley-Cooper, O'Connor, Kerevi, Koroibete; Foley, Genia; Sio, Latu, Alaalatoa, Rodda, Arnold, Pocock, Naisarani, Hooper (C)

Replacements: Uelese, Slipper, Kepu, Coleman, Salakaia-Loto, White, To'omua, Beale.

Beale on the bench? On balance I'd rather not be facing that type of player who can undo our defence.

Overall cant see Wales winning but then I have called 240 000 of our last 3 losses, its the welsh way!

Francis has been cited. Hopefully that’s his WC over because he’s shit and shouldn’t have been in the squad. He’s done sweet Fa for the Saints this season.

TJ - that’s a bit of an over reaction. Yes he tackles like a tit but he isn’t looking to injure people. Maybe you boys could do with finding a few players with competitive streak so you don’t roll over have your tummies tickled?

I think that’ll be a close game, looking forward to it.

With calls this morning from Jones that “...England can play better...” I just find myself a bit demoralised.  If they are that good they need to show it on the pitch, but what I’m seeing is the same old England, the same OTT reporting in the press and the same mistakes.   I really don’t think think they have another gear, they’re  going to be found out pdq and scared by Argentina or with a bit of luck the next team.

Within the final 8 at best in my view.
