England looked better with ball in hand than they have done for a long time.
Italy played much better and I hope they get a couple of results to reinforce the direction they are taking.
France were more organised than
expected, Ireland disciplined and organised. Difficult to read too much from the game as conditions dire.
Scotland Wales was the surprise as Scotland’s scrum caused them no problems but Wales ran riot elsewhere. England Wales could be a classic or it could become a case of each side too afraid to make a mistake.
One thing that won’t happen is AA and Tj to agree on anything!

Brown showing past his sell by date IMO.

Yes. I've thought that for a while but I've got to say when I watched Wasps Quinn's last September he looked steady, safe and pretty hard for a back. Having been a detractor I came away appreciating what he bring to the squad and why Jones (and Bomber before him) value him.

Good to see Simmonds have a good game and live up to the hype around him.

Don't think we can take too much from this weekend. Sets things up nicely for next week though.

6 Nations are investigating France's use of the HIA too. Will they have the balls to do anything about it given the focus on head injuries etc?

The other thing that has become apparent from the weekend and the Lions is Gatland is a very good coach and by all accounts a decent bloke.
Didn’t think I’d ever think that!

You are both a bloody nightmare and can take over this thread with your bickering!
I’ve posted before and felt the wrath of AA; it is so difficult when typing to convey meaning. I think most on here don’t mean much by it but are just passionate about their team.
Think there should be a meet up at a game one year for some me proper discussion over several beers!

Looked back to p45 for my score predictions -got all 3 results 👍🏻. Wales took the Try BP instead of Sco getting a losing one.

Did anyone else think the first Italy try came from a final forward pass? Can someone please explain why it wasnt deemed so? The passer was running flat not forwards so the momentum argument woildnt apply?

"anagallis_arvensis
Been for a bike ride what have I missed apart from the scots being winners of the stats yesterday?"

Did I actually say that, umm no I did not. I said they were close in many areas.

What a quality time we all have discussing with you. It makes it so interesting for everyone when you are challenged and you come back with such excellent cunning repartee. Do go on..

Gatland is an excellent coach for one off matches or series but he's coached Wales for 240 000 years now and we are still no better than we were.

Well the others are being interesting, normal and respectful so I fear I made the foolish mistake of engaging you thinking you might be worth a chat, turns out you are troll so better to simply ignore you from now on.

AA my turn to disagree with you there.
He oversaw a drawn series in NZ which is a pretty decent achievement (especially as he selected the wrong player!)(see what I did there Tj!)
And he’s has won a fair bit in his time with the players available. Different players are coming to the fore now and he appears to be evolving his style to suit them. He can only mould the players he has to be a cohesive unit. He did that very well finding a style that suited his players.

Biggest problem is what game to get together at?
Can’t be an international as all nations are represented pretty much. Can’t be AP as too English, Pro 14, no English.
Think we might have to go for geography and find the most central ground with probably an Anglo welsh game? Suggestions?

Any England game would see most nations represented wouldn’t it? Just not necessarily home nations.

Its a fair point Bear but I just think we are no further on than say 2005. Getting beat by SH teams but capable of a grand slam if the cards roll our way. ( going to Twickers and Dublin makes this very unlikely this year).

To be fair, a wales game would contain plenty of english born. The Ireland games would be great for the southern hemisphere types!

What the **** is going on with the formatting on this stupid site?

AA Wales looked dangerous with ball in hand, as did Scarlets against Bath. If that attitude migrates to the international team as it would appear happened yesterday then they could be a handful. Will lose a few games too though till they find the balance but it is progress and mainly because of personnel available. His hand has been forced but it could be the beginning of a new era.....

That’s funny!
I’d be happy watching good rugby anywhere!
I’m south east based but a Bath supporter because of a tie to the club. Not too much further to Cardiff.....

It’ll be interesting to see who Jones calls up to replace Youngs for the match next week.

Will he go with Robson, Wigglesworth or Vellacott? I hope it’s not Wigglesworth if I’m honest. Fine club and layer but lacks international class.

Farrell could do with a bit of kicking practice this week too.

The 3 kicks Farrell missed were all right touch line conversions, so as hard as it comes

1/2 got at least two from the touchline right thru the middle.  Farrells kicking has not been top notch the last couple of years.  IIRC one of the poorer kickers last 6N  IIRC

He hit the post first time.

Kicking stats are pointless without knowing how hard a kick they will take on. I’m quite happy with Farrell in our team thankyou. Gatland the tactical genius (😎) gave him the job in NZ too.

1/2p's kicking has been poor for Scarlets this season but was great yesterday

Farrell played well today, him and Ford linked really well but his place kicking needs a wee polish. Six points missed could be costly in a tighter game.

Simmonds did really well. The boy has some gas.

England’s backs linked as well as I’ve seen them for a long time today. If Kruis gets his form back, Curry & Billy V fit, add in Daly & Tuilagi at full fitness it looks a VERY strong squad, with depth in every position. Apart from Farrell. Slade could play second playmaker I guess.

Are any players from either side back for next weeks game ? (E v W)

Manu at full fitness? Ha ha. He’s so far of playing international rugby.

Haskell and Marler aren’t available until the Scotland game. Don’t think anyone else is due back next week for England.

Wales might have a few back; North will be in contention and maybe Faletau.

North, Amos and Loopy Liam are fit now apparently will be some hard choices.

Cory BIL Hill might be out with HIA
