[#9968237]

To the * who tried to drive me off the road this morning because I indicated well in advance and then pulled into the outside lane of the A1 to overtake a lorry - I hope you enjoy being grilled by your boss, as I've just sent footage of your bullying style of driving and aggressive attempts at trying to force me off the road as you overtook me ( having pulled back in myself after the lorry).

I was driving my wife's small car, had I been in my own car would you have been quite such a *?

The uniform has given you away mate along with the MTB in the back and your registration number.

My official complaint and about 3 minutes of video is now logged with your employers. I hope you enjoy explaining your actions to your CO and the local Police!

I'm sure he was just making progress. 🙂

Anyhow, are you posting the vid up for us, or what?

I've had similar, but the other driver hit my van with his car after undertaking me and trying to cut me up. At least you are not having the pain of a "no fault" insurance claim to deal with (no witnesses).

Report to police as well - they'll keep it on file (and probably do nothing)

RAF asked me not to post on SM, so will hold onto it until I get a response from them or the Police.

Unless you know which unit the driver is from or some further details other than the car details that coudl identify the driver, I would be surprised if anything got back to them.

Highly unlikely that whoever receives the complaint has a list of every serviceperson's vehicles to be able to trace them.

I would be annoyed if my employer kept a detailed log of every private vehicle that I drive to and from work and used it for purposes other than controlling access to the car park/site.

If dangerous or criminal driving then surely reporting to the Police is the correct course of action?

Edit: Ignore the above. looks like you have reported it to the Police. Hopefully someone (RAF or Police) track them down and have a firm word with them

I had a similar experience recently with Derbyshire police. The vehicle was "untraceable" from the reg I gave them. It didn't show on the dvla site either. Two months later, the car is still driving around with the same plate and still doesn't show on the dvla. It was all just brushed under the carpet as far as I can see. The lack of visible reg makes me think the car is one of their own and they've closed ranks.

I hope you get a better outcome than I did.

Yes, reported to the Police which is probably futile, however I'm pretty sure that all RAF employees vehicles need to have passes to allow access to their base, which no doubt would be kept on a database which can be searched?

Worth a shot anyway.

In a case like this I'd expect my employer to take H&S and professional standards seriously and assist the police in identifying the driver and working with them to help educate the driver. When wearing any kind of uniform you are representing your employer.

A mate who should know has told me that certain vehicles have "do not stop" plates that are untraceable. His connection was security services, but it's easy to think that the rozzers have the ability to have these as well. They can also be badged as whatever they want to be.

Anyway, back to the OP, A1? Should help narrow down the base in question. Keep an eye out like a hawk.

I think I know the guy - he has history of high speed passes over five air control towers—and one admiral's daughter!

Well, perhaps the driver should have thought of that before driving like a complete goon then.  Why should you be helpful in any way, shape or form after your safety has been put at risk by some idiot?

If the police try to search his base I suspect they’ll be told “you’ll need a warrant, officer”

Military justice eh? Seems a bit harsh.

Surely some sort of Fixed Penalty Notice would be more appropriate.

This, insist an investigation at the very least and get Plod involved.

I suspect the RAF take this very seriously too.

The RAF once caused me to fall off my bike. I was riding in to Ben Macdhui from Braemar. I was carrying skis on my back, and wearing ski boots.

A Tornado gave me close pass - I could see the rivets - and I metaphorically shat myself. An embarrassing fall, though I doubt the pilot was using a rear view mirror. I was temporarily deafened and did not get the reg.

Never had the need to access or work on a military base have you?  Standards of behaviour for those that do are higher - e.g. you can be stopped, searched and drink / drug-tested whilst on an operational base. Civil police pass info to MOD Police who can do search and pass info to unit commander. Mind you, the worst driving standards I've seen on some bases were from those in uniform....

If he’s from Wittering, there’s a good chance he’s a professional driver 😕!
