some of you will remember my 'wheres this cairn' thread, where you always gave me correct locations of where my mate had been in the lakes even down to room numbers of pubs/hotels he'd stayed in. he never did find out how i got the answers.......until now.

hes a massive 'lakes' fan and has begged me to come clean, as hes writing a book on the wainwrights, and has forgotten where he was on a few photos that he wants to include.

of course, im happy to do this, it was fun, and i know that youll be able to help him out on most if not all of the photos.

hes sent me 35, but rather than just chuck them all into the thread now, i'll do them in 5's, and upload the next batch when these have been identified please.

youre a clever bunch, i can remember a thread last week where you even identified the name of a milkman and his dairy from a grainy shot of the front of his vehicle, so im hoping these wont pose much of a problem 😀

Can you photoshop a "Where's Wally?" jumper on him for the next edition?

1: Holme Fell summit I think.
2: Tricky. Loadpot Hill, possibly, although doesn't quite look right.

2. Is that Place Fell on the left with Helvellyn/Dodds in the background. I’d suggest it’s from Gowbarrow Fell in that case but am prob wrong!

Are 3 & 5 the same place but from a different angle? The stones look the same shape.

ads above is right. Dale Head is in the background so would suggest last 3 images all taken on the same walk. Viewed from Hindscarth?

TBH 8 and 9 could be the same place or nearby. Base Brown and Gable lined up behind would fit with that.

Edit - I reckon the rocky top will be Grange Fell and the other one Great Crag, probably same walk.

6. It looks from the rock like the NW Fells around Whinlatter - could it be Whinlatter summit? Or the true summit of Broom Fell - most people think the big beacon cairn is the actual summit.

It's surely never going to be published in a book.......?

No help whatsoever with the locations, but if they're digital photos, there may be GPS details in the meta data of the original snaps

16. High Crag or Haystacks, looking across the end of Fleetwith Pike towards Hindscarth?
17. Stab in the dark: Haycock
Think 18 is Raise. Sticks Pass just out of sight in the background.
The other two: pass.
