Brilliant engineer. I doubt we'll see as iconic a car again.

What was your favourite?

Christ he was talented! Didn't know he designed the Tiger tank at the age of 7

Or were you thinking of Ferdinand Porsche
(1875–1951)

Not Ferdinand Alexander Porsche
(1935–2012)

Survived by

Ferdinand Oliver Porsche
(1961– )

Bit of a theme there 😉

A guy who's based just round the corner from my best mate has in his collection:-

3x 993 GT2's, all done barely more than delivery milage. Each estimated worth £500k+ now.
A 964RS
A 1973 2.7 Carrera RSR
A 1969 2.4 Carrera
A 356

Think there were also a couple of 930/935 generation cars in there too, but the above were the attention grabbers...

He pays a man full time to sit in his lockup and look after them! He drives less than 1000 miles a year in all of them combined apparently! Clearly I've been in the wrong jobs...

Anyway, suspect he'll be upset about today's news... Not a good day for company figureheads what with Jim Marshall popping it too!

Sad day. The earliest ones are the prettiest IMO.

When ever I hear or see the word Porsche ,I always think of a very old Pirelli tyre ad .
It had a close up of a black 911 turbo, airborne over a hump backed bridge.
Face on and at a very slight angle,it looked so powerful, and you could still see a bit of the big spoiler on the back.
Boys toys 🙂

What a waste

Was exactly what I said! Apparently each of the GT3's got taken for their annual MOT this year, with the same milage reading on as last year (MOT station is less than 200 yards away from his lockup)!

I asked the guy looking after all the cars what the owner used as a daily driver, after he'd let me perv over the cars for 20 minutes, expecting it to be probably a new 911 Turbo or perhaps a Panamera or even a horrid Cayenne.

"A Helicopter" was the response... 😯
