So sad. Used to follow his fights, a real warrior.

Saddened to hear this. He was one of the best British boxers ever. He had the misfortune to be about when there were two other ATGs in his division.
Always seemed to be an approachable down to earth type person. Credit to Ricky - his antics with his drinking mates on holidays often got him some stick, but he always came across as genuine and up for a giggle without offending people .. typically he laughed about himself.
Yeah, he didn't seem to take himself to seriously and was happy to laugh at himself, especially his love of beer, chips and pies between training camps
More importantly, he was painfully honest and open about his struggles with mental helath and addiction throughout his life and I'm sure thats been important in de-stigmatising it. As well as the victories, I think that will be his legacy

Met him once in the bar I used to run. Seemed like a top bloke and really down to earth, and bought all of the staff a drink! Think he was a bit taken aback when he realised we had 35 staff! RIP Hitman

Ricky leaving us so soon has hit me quite hard. Being a big boxing fan 20 odd years ago it was great to have a great local fighter. Watching fight at the City Ground was a brilliant night, all those late nights watching his stateside jaunts. Loved that he wasn't scared to take on the best of the best.
Bumped into him a couple of times in Manchester, always a top bloke.

Oh my, that's awful news. Never seemed content with normal life, and had some bad family issues... so hope it wasn't that.
Remember the emotions in the Kostya Tszyu fight. One of those amazing performances in British boxing history.
Sky Documentary "Hatton" was a big eye opener.

Only lost to the 2 greatest fighters of his generation (I don't count the one in 2012, he was shot to pieces by then)
