Is this legal?
Please note a dress code of no shorts applies to gentlemen.
Am I being discriminated against due to gender?
I appreciate I can take my custom elsewhere and that I will have to wear my holiday trousers.
We just thought we’d support a local curry house but it is hot and I really hate wearing trousers.
# prayforzip.
Wear a dress
Obvs
Unless it says women in full length skirts or trousers it is a bit odd
Gosht! That’s a totally jalfrezi rule.
Just your undercrackers then
Just wear a nice skirt.
Solved, and you'll look great too.
I could do all of the above , I just want to know if it's legal.
They might not enforce the rule, but you'll have to tikka chance.
If they try to stop you at the door just bhaji your way in anyway
They should just be grateful for your custom instead of behaving like the fashion police.
Is it a curry house or an authentic high end SE Asian restaurant?
If the former, go elsewhere; if the latter and you really want to go, accept their policy but tell them when you're there that the policy is unnecessary and overbearing.
I suppose shorts are a bit chilli but trousers are korma.
but it is hot and I really hate wearing trousers.
diddums
Make sure you complain before you get your food to ensure a double helping of the chef’s special sauce.
Is this legal?
Yep I think it pretty much is...
Just order your Curry delivered to your house and you can scoff it in the buff should you choose, Just be careful not to spill any Phall on your genitals. Unless of course that's your thing, no judgement here...
A few years back when staying at Claridges they wouldn't serve me in the bar on a hot saturday afternoon as I was wearing shorts. Lots of ladies had bare legs.
That evening in the restaurant (where I abided with their jacket and trouser policy ) we were sat next to a party where the elder gentleman wore his bucket hat and anorak throughout the meal and his son had his laptop on the table and ate his meal around it.
First they came for the shorts-wearers...
First they came for the shorts-wearers
Thanks for feeling my pain brother.
Going to cancel it and go for Thai instead.
Fight The Power.
No! It's illegal! Call the police! Don't mess around, just dial 999 and explain to the person who answers. They'll sort it for you
Their wine is pish anyway, Vin de Loo.
Wear some of those there trousers with the zip off bottoms.
Walk past the front of house, then when you are sat comfy , a quick stealth unzipping and you are sorted. Keep them attached at the end, then if you are spotted get someone to cause a distraction and zip those babies back up. They'll never know what hit em 😉
This rule makes no sense - absolutely naan at all...
How frightfully dahl.
Make sure you complain before you get your food
They'd prefer you to have a nice Chaat.
If you're in need of trousers, I hear Next has a Ceylon.
Yup it’s a dress code they have the right to refuse to serve as a restaurant. Naan up.
Shish, what a bizarre thing to ban in a restaurant. I’d go elsewhere just because it’s ridiculous. That or you can borrow one of madras’s
I was upset when the restaurant refused to serve me because I was wearing shorts. It was my birthday chapati. I left raita there and then. I've bhuna round the world and it's the first time it's happened to me.
Lots of ladies had bare legs
One rule for the men and another rule for the lassis.
So you thought you'd come and take a popadum on here...
It depends on the state of your legs. Are they tanned or pale and hairy?
Use the loo before leaving & walk out in just your boxers.
They've got a point. If the shorts are too tight, sometimes your dhansak will pop out. Especially for older gentlemen, when they can saag aloot.
Don't cause a fuss - things'll just get methi and you'll become a social paratha
Oh, very well done gentlemen! 🎩👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You could roll your trousers up while seated, then just pilau 'em down before you leave
I’ve bhuna round the world and
it’s the first time it’s happened to me.
Aye aye can't find my balti!
Some good work here but
One rule for the men and another rule for the lassis.
is glorious. 👏👏 🎩
Going to cancel it and go for Thai instead.
Shorts and a Thai? That's a classic look

And I defy anyone to say that^^^^^^ is not smart casual.
In fact there’s no casual about it. Just smart.
Yup it’s a dress code they have the right to refuse to serve as a restaurant. Naan up.
If it was a "no shorts" policy then I could see your point but they are specifically singling out men, so in theory, would allow women to wear shorts.
How is that not discriminatory?
One rule for the men and another rule for the lassis.
Can't top that.
They wouldn't let me in the local fast food place in shorts last week, it's a chi-knees takeaway.
Sincerest apologies.
Thestabiliser
One rule for the men and another rule for the lassis.
Not really any point reading past that.
Full marks.
Maybe their just joshing with you.
What you bhuna do?
It's a right pickle
I can see their point though. If your shorts are too short, you wouldn’t want a balti stick out.
you wouldn’t want a balti stick out.
You saying the OP's sack is on the saag?
I'd just bhaji in and tikka seat. Can't see your shorts if sat down
If they pop out just popadom back in
