Hm. dipping my toe in the water on the bike packing front ATM.

Wild Country / Terra Nova would get my vote (but you know that Iain!) - but for height some of the small backpacking ones will be a bit tight. 2 man just for ease of space inside. Some of the W C ones have an XL model which gives at least an extra bit of room - need to check footprint to see where though.

The Lite models are lighter but they get away with non-taped seams ..

How many people are you housing?

I've just got an MSR Hubba Hubba for when I'm out leading D of E groups. Definitely space in there for a taller person and more headroom than most other designs I've tried. Comes in at about 1.5kg. Only downsides so far are that it is inner first pitch and there is no track record of their longevity (unless you can find an older model).

The MSR Hubbas are very good, I have the one man version. The green 'HP' models are designed for UK/European use and have a deeper bathtub on the inner, plus if you buy the footprint they can be pitched inner first.

I have been looking at the wild country Zephyros 2, but the favourite at the moment is the Hex Peak V4.

This is mainly going to be for solo trips. MSR's look good, but not keen on inner pitch tents for Scottish winter camping.

I didn't like the WC Z2. I went for the force 10 helium 2 as an upgrade from my old banshee, the double end poles make a huge amount of difference to the vertically un challenged of us, i fit with loads of room at 6'2 and it means my xl down mat goes in too, I could only get s 180cm mat in the banshee.

That is good to know about the Force 10 helium, as I did look at those too, thanks 🙂

Another vote for the Force 10 Helium. Not found anything to dislike about mine yet.

I was in a Hilleberg Nallo last week, a good tent and good space.
For a real lanky, although not too light, I would also look at Macpac Olympus (nz order) and I also find that the Vango Halo's are good for space, especially as the walls are so vertical.

Slight hijack, but I'm looking for a weekend tent that will involve car 'camping'...so not needing anything fancy but also for under £70 - anyone got recommendations? Not the biggest amount of cash, but it'll be infrequent use - would prefer a 2-man for a bit of space.

Cheers.

Only had it up in the garden, and this weekend will be it's first proper outing but I am impressed so far with the Force 10 Helium 200 I bought off here a couple of weeks ago for £60 🙂
It only has the small pole at one end though being the older model and I'd imagine it's a bit small for anyone over 6'

I was shortlisting a WC Zephyros 1 Lite after reading this review.

Although not in a hurry, I'll be wanting to replace my excellent, albeit 23 year-old, Macpac Microlight with a similar product.
1.5 kg maximum weight, inner/outer pitch together, £150 and long enough for a 6'2" broad person.

Hex Peak v4 looks good but the only review I've read mentions it being fiddly to pitch. I'll look further into that as it's important to me.

Nick, what did you like about the Force 10 Helium 2 that made it better than the WC Z2 ?
I can see how the double end poles give the extra usable length.

Cheers.

The SO has just ordered one of the Zpack duplex tents

http://www.zpacks.com/shelters.shtml

Expensive but really lightweight.
