I needed to knock a pin out of a Record No3 vice to dismantle it and after trying various bolts, nails, etc, I remembered the OH had bought some punches for a DIY project. They got the job done but deformed quite easily.

Can you recommend me a reasonably priced punch set which won't deform easily or what should I look for please?

You want a drift, not a punch although I guess you could qualify it as a pin punch which is basically the wrong name for a drift but easier to google.

Nah, it’s common knowledge that Ernie Shavers had the hardest punch.
